F**k Micro$haft, XBox360, Game Publishers and Resellers...
We went XBox360 shopping today - I have a chance to purchase a $399.00 setup, for - well $399.00.
But first we went off on a mission to "try before we buy" - to see what the new titles are ike tec etc etc. [rant on] Well - new policy supposedly came down from Micro$haft, GameStop Cprp, EB Games Corp etc etc etc. No opening of ANY XBox 360 titles unless sold. Not even for in store demos or in stor display WTF is up with that? I never bought a PS2 or XBox game that wasn't first cracked open, placed in the in-store console and tried out for a bit... Or, the stores would have a couple game consoles setup with games all ready to sample. Well - e tried 5 GameSTops 4 EB Games and a Replay (or somthing like that) game store..... NONE are allowed to open or otherwise show XBox 360 titles - unless you buy it first. Bottom line.... Fuck these publishers, vendors and resellers.... I will buy the entire kit used from someone at a later date - they are not getting my money for new purchases again. How stupid - XBox 360 is supposed to be the hottests thing since Pam Andersons tits, and you cnnot play an in-store demo of PGR3 unless you pay for it first. What a load of crap. [/rant off] |
Apparently its for insurance reasons, several stores have burnt down already
This might not be technically true |
Good one... ;)
|
apparently Wal-Mart is exempt from this as i the one right by my apartment has one out for demo play. But that has gotto be the most retarded policy i have ever heard. there's no way this isgoing to help sales any.

All the demo play systems we saw today have the "Demo Apps/Games" crap loaded. In fact, at EB Games, only managers (which are not on duty Saturday) have the key to the locked XBox360 display case, so you cannot even change the games even if you DID buy one to try. ;) |

Then they woudl walk otu with their own copy - all happy and pleased. This XBox360 shit is rather the opposite - it's so good I guess, you will just buy it and every title - no need for instore games to even be available to play :P hehe But you can still have your way with new PS2 and XBox titles... just not XBox360. What a bunch of maroooons. |

FPS are really best left to PC"s anyway... and isn't that just a regular XBox title?
|
That's a lame ass policy by Microsoft.
Speaking of, has anyone played PGR:3? The graphics seem really impressive, and I read they have done a lot of work getting the cars to sound like the real thing, but I wonder how it plays...? |

there's allready a business in the "try it before you buy it" deal.
its called the "rental business" a comercial store like wallmart and eb just sell games. they aren't supposed to let ppl test drive goods. just imagine. its saturday 5pm. there is customer/employee ratio of 5:1 minimum. and a quarter of those ppl want to try a game before they buy it. heh. no fucking way that's gonna happen. microsoft putting this restriction in place is smart. they are just protecting their investment. you want to to try a game before buying it? go rent it. |
Odd, I dont know of "Try before you buy" In Canukistan. Usualy when a big game is out they have it on an instore console but afaik you just cant pick any random game and ask them to put it on...cause honestly every kid would do that and all the games would be open.
|
Indeed, I don't see the fuss. For sure around here if you walk in a store and ask to test a random game they'll laugh at you. As said, there are rentals for this and if everybody would need to test a game before buying, every store would need like 10 consoles with ppl working on this all day long.
It's normal to have 2 or 3 consoles with the latest big hits available to be used, but that's it. (and in town every VG store has various Xbox360 used for this tast) What surprises me is that so far you never had problems with this strange request LOL |
