Looks like a Nigerian scam

I recognized the pics immediately as the style of ones from Carclassic.com, who if you don't know already specializes in selling high value cars.

Reading closely in the auction, all the guy is selling is "information on where to buy the car".

lorbmw69 12-07-2005 04:53 AM

oooh i was just going to post this one. the bid isn't even at 17,000 yet. maybe i should put a bid in and hope for some computer glitch. but i agree it seems a little sketchy

There is a 97 GTR with a (zero mile engine) for sale in the UK currently.

It's under stock --> Race Cars

Anyway, if this is true, that's the Macca I'd like to own - being a racecar modified for road use, with the hardcore racing interior, and the LM looks - it's damn great!! :D

You should read my post above

This guy is only selling information on where to buy the car! Not the car itself.
Read the auction text very carefully and you'll see that he's just an "intermediate", offering assistance in buying the car.

What a load of rubbish.

eBay should be more strict with their rule and erase such "tricky" auctions. If ppl are dumb enough not to read and bid away, it doesn't mean they don't deserve to be protected to some extent

jon_s 12-07-2005 06:24 PM

I agree TT. The english is also pretty bad. I found it hard to follow what he was on about. Then got bored with him ramblings and then realised people had actually bid! I hope they managed to read more than I did.

stradale 12-08-2005 03:52 PM

eBay has removed it. From your comments I can tell why...

Too bad. I was so excited when I read the topic. "This could be my chance to buy one!", I thought. I was already daydreaming of driving off in my F1 LM when the bubble burst. Why does that always happen?
