Roof spoiler question
 

As I have the rear window constantly dirty when its raining despite that I have a windshield there wich works fine, there is only 1 speed so its only workin or not working and having it working all te time is useless cause its not enough water on the window but turning it on erery 30 seconds is PITA.

So, question is can a small decent spoiler help avoid this so wind just blow over and not leave much of water/snow/dirt on the window? Not talking about i-wanna-be-cosworth-when-grow-up ones but small one just on the end of the roof. Anyone have personal experience "before and after" on your own car? What shape is the best for it?

Did you try applying Rain-X to the rear window and see if it helps? I had it on my front windshield and it works very well. Still have to try it on side and back windows when I have time :wink:

Its making water getting into the small drops and just flush away? Is that right? Havent used those yet. Thanx for tip Alien :wink:

a spoiler may actually make the issue worse depending on how the air swirl goes after it leaves the spoiler.

But rain x (or somekind of wax) would be the best idea.

Thats why I wanted to ask you guys of what spoiler design does help... have no option to go to the wind tonnel to check it :lol: Fan and a smoke could do the job though 8)


I thought wax type stuff is useless to apply on the window with the wiper youse its only making it worse.. :?

A rear spoiler to direct air at the rear window works very well.. ;)

tehre is a reason why old station wagons had those spoliers on the rear window pillars.

They deflect wind to keep the dust off the back windows.

There are even modern counter parts... ;)

Oh - and this is just for dust... windspeed will be no where high enough to blow the water away - even jet planes that cruise at 500mph still need windshield wipers to wipe water away ;)

Do you mean to get all the water off? Cus i use rain-x and once i hit like 45 i dont need my wipers anymore.

Not in a rain storm.. ;) Water drops are one thing - rain is quite another - as I say, theres a reason aircraft have windshield wipers.. ;)

Rain-X is surely the first thing everyone learns about after they learn to walk :P Great for helmet visors - until the rain gets heavy hehe

It might be because i put it on really often like once every 2 weeks. Id say for the first rain or 2, even in he hardest of rain i rarley use my wipers when im on the highway.

Maybe you should sell your washing tecnique to the airlines... ;)

They cant afford rain-x at this time. Unless the government is gonna pay for it.
