Finally - a ride in a Ferrari!!! (+ F430, 512TR)

Its finally happened for me – I got a ride in a Ferrari this morning. It was ‘only’ a 328 GTS but you have to start somewhere and in any case it was something special for me. :D

To cut a long story short the owner and I had a discussion (online) about his car a few days ago and then coincidently met each other at the Ferrari dealer (both checking out the F430).

So I asked to take some pics of his car in the parking lot and he said he’d move it into the shade for me, and then he said we might as well go around the block if he’s already starting it!!! :D A really nice guy, and seems very keen to share his car with others.

So off we went, and I have to say for a ~20 year old car it still goes pretty well (around 6sec for 0-100), and the handling in the corners he sped through was also impressive. Being an open-top also made the experience nicer, since the V8 was all the much better to hear. :D

Here are a few pics I took of it (hopefully more to come in a ‘photoshoot’ at a later date):

BTW, these are also the first photos taken with my new polarizer filter – but I have to admit I forgot to adjust it on some pics (beginners mistake) :P

a few from on the road - more to prove it happened (since the pics are pretty crap :P )

Then the reason I actually went there, to finally see a F430 in the metal. What a stunning machine, not much to say that hasn’t already been. As you can see if was pretty well cramped in so not that many good angles to get pics from… :(

How's this for some close parking (the 512TR and a 3200GT)? Luckily he moved the TR forward so it made taking pics easier.

512TR – another beautiful car!!! The guy with the 328 was drooling over it – lets hope he ends up buying it. :D

and a Bentley Continental GT – with bling bling rims. :|

Nice pics dude 8)

None of this "only a 328" malarchy :D A ride in any Ferrari is awesome. Especially if the owner is decent guy like this one seems to be...

This 20 year old car still has a top speed of 160 mph...not bad for such an old guy

Just looking at that parking job makes me nervous... :!:

The Continental GT, while it may a nice car...doesn't belong in this company :D

Good to hear you had a ride in a Ferrari. The 328 still is a great looking car IMO. The main lines of the car are just great. Sounds like a very nice owner too. Did you guys stick to the speed limits?

Nice dealership pics as well. The 512 TR still is one of my favourite Ferrari's from the last 20 years (apart from the f355, F40 and 328 :)). But the dealership looks idd very cramped. And now you were able to see the F430 in metal, do you like it more or less compared to the 360 and f355?

Btw, is common to use duck tape to attach license plates to cars in Australia? :D

The roads we drove on had a limit of 60kmh, so I can safely say we exceeded that! :P

There was a 360 Spider next to the F430 so it was easy to compare, and I would say the F430 is the more impressive looking car. I really like the aggressiveness of the front and the little details, but the rear does look a little bulky to me.

The F355 is still one of my all-time favourites - so it would be hard to pick between it and the new boy. :D

LOL....its actually just a strap that they jam in under the engine cover or 'boot' to hold it in place. They only just got it so I assume they used those temporarily for the quick drive from the pickup place - should get proper ones soon.

Lucky guy!!!

A Ferrari is always a Ferrari 8) It's always a great experience, no metter the model

The 512TR is one of my favourite models, it would be nice to change the 328 GTS for it.

And those wheels on the Continental GT are quite nice. If the car was black, it would be perfect 8)

Fuckin' A man!!!!!!!!!!

That's great to hear dude! The pics turned out great!!! 8)

Good boy! Welcome to the club! A 328 is still a cool Ferrari and I am sure you will climb the latter sooner or later!
I dream of a day when every JW member could say he got a ride in a Ferrari :good:

I dream of a day when every JW member could say he owns a Ferrari - or if that fails at least me. :P

I know I chose the wrong words, it just came out that way since in my head I was thinking/comparing of rides in an Enzo or similar.

It really is a special experience sitting in (any) a Ferrari - we stopped at the lights and a 996 was parked with the owner standing next to it. I thought about taking a pic but then decided against it since I was in a Ferrari and it wouldn't be right.

Your time will come - it will catch you by suprise like it did with me.

As for the crowded showroom, no I didn't take one - but not through a lack of trying. :D

BTW, later this week I will have another ride/photoshoot - but not in an Italian, a British car this time.

British cars are my topic these days, I'm about to prepare a post with the pics I shot at the Jaguar days at Zürich airport, next one will be about 50 pics of the AstonMartin V8 Vantage (Pre Premiere event last week) and this weekend, there is a British Classic Car Meeting in St.Moritz (where I intend to go carhaunting)... I'm curious about the car you're going to ride

Thats good news, I love AM's so I look forward to the pics. :D

I have just got an email from the owner of the British car so it looks like we will be going on a lengthy cruise tomorrow afternoon - but its not an Aston unfortunately (hint: something smaller).
