Is there some way to find out...
Hi guys, i've been wondering is there some way to find out how much faster a car would go for every pound taken off. I mean that even if you drive a opel corsa 1.7tdi that does 60 in 15 secs. (or more i don't know) it would be faster if you take off ..let's say 220 lbs.
What do you say? |

Funny this topic comes up. My bike weighs 325lb and has 43hp
I weigh 205lb (fat bastard) So power to weight is 530lb/43hp Now if I lost 30 or 40lb how much quicker as a percentage should/would my bike be, in theory? This has been going round in my head for a couple weeks now!!! I'm just about to go to bed now but if anyone is that bored and wants to work it for me, then that'd be cool! |
Let z represent the change in acceleration.
orig. acc. = force / 530 new acc. = (z) (orig. acc) = force / 490 (z) (force / 530) = force / 490 [substitution] z = 530/490 = 1.08 This means an 8% improvement in acceleration with a loss of 40lbs. |
