Houston to San Jose - Roads etc, from 30,000ft

I wanted to show some of the non-US folks some scenery from a different perspective - these are some roads I spied from the window this morning...

you should see the Wyoming/Montana roads. its like bare road for miles. but there are a shitload of crosses beside the road and its intimidating!

thanks for the aerial views !

specially funny was the "A day in life of the winglet" :D

TransAm 03-29-2005 09:51 AM

I LOL'd at the day in the life comments too!

Thanks for posting these pics, RC.

A lot of the roads in west Texas are like this, hilly, sweeping bends, no other traffic for miles around. I drove from El Paso (on the TX/NM/Mexico border) to Carlsbad in New Mexico, maybe a two or three hour drive depending on your speed (150miles). this was during the day on a weekday. I saw scant traffic on my journey, and it was real fun ragging the Trans Am through the twisty mountain roads, big dual carriageways with 90-100mph bends...

Yes, there are speed limits (75mph) but if there is no-one around to see you then who is to know you broke them? We hit 135mph a few times, and were averaging a hundred most of the way...

Impressive scenery. A total different view than when I would look outside the window when flying home.
