Cut out cops
In an attempt to slow people down, I can see this causing more problems for no reason really.

you are fucking kidding me right? that is the shittiest thing ive ever seen
|
Hahahah. . . this is a good one. Man, soooo many people just slam on their brakes when they see it cop, even when they are going the SPEED LIMIT!!!
But it should be interesting to see how this experiment will turn out. |
HAHA, they have to be kidding!  I tell you what though, it's not such a bad idea; i always slow down and check my speed when i see a cop on the side of the road, on the highway. Seeing that from a few hundred meters away would scare me. Once i see a two dimensional cut-out however, i'd feel slightly cheated haha. Also, it would cut costs for the police - thus lowering penalties and fines, right?

crazy australian ideas
pretty clever, and i'm sure it'll work. just wait for people to start crashing into those signs :P |
I agree!
While it is a little cheesy, I'm sure it'll work pretty well. Out here, we have two cop cars that they tend to park in different places around the highways with nobody in them. It's the same concept as the "cut out cops" and does work very well. At least they're minimizing spending on this so the "real" police are hopefully out doing more important things. |
who would fall for the one with the guy hanging out the door? no cop is that stupid (I hope) lets hang wy body out the open door on a highway with cars flying by at atleast 60mph.

We had similar "cop cars" here in Estonia. Just for experiment 4 were installed. If i`m not wrong, 2 were stolen and so they finished their experiment.

Hell, what a contribution to road safety: causing drivers to brake at high speeds :? BTW, this recepe was tested all around Europe and most fo Asia during past 10 years. |
Not a bad idea actually. If the purpose of police on the road is 'revenue raising' (as we like to say in Australia); well these things don't hand out fines. But if they really are there to make people drive slower and safer (like they say), then this does the job.
Its kinda like getting off with a warning. I'd definetely prefer to slow down when i see this, rather than that being a real cop giving me a fine. |
