Car #x versus Car #y

Question:
Of these cars, which ones will win?

The rules:
-Each driver is of the same ability.
-At a typical track that isn't a drag strip.
-The cars are either stock or factory spec.
-Each car is their latest production.
-Dry Tarmac and Sunny weather conditions

Below on each name is a link to an example model.

BMW M3 CSL versus Audi RS6

Ford GT versus Saleen S7

Mitsubishi Evolution VIII MR versus Suburu WRX STi Spec C

Honda NSX Type R versus Lotus Elise (US Spec)

I just wanted to throw those questions out there for debate 8)

1. CSL - no contest

2. can't say, because I'm not that familiar with the Saleen handling.
I know that in a strait line drag the car can keep up with the best.....anyone has any saleen track times?

3. EVO

4. NSX R

in order, here's my picks:

BMW M3 CSL. not sure how much power difference there is, but the CSL's tires and suspension would mean it could corner a lot quicker.

Saleen S7 (especially the new turbo version). i really haven't seen any detailed road tests of it, but with all the downforce it produces it probably has phenomenal grip at high speed, and it gets there quite quickly. plus i'm just not a fan of the GT.

Its a toss-up between the Evo and STi really. they're usually about equal in performance from what i've seen. i'd take the Evo, though, since its a little more hard-edged.

NSX Type R. the elise just isn't fast enough to keep up with the Honda's nice V6 and great balance.

I have heard good things about the Saleen S7 on the track. I think it would show the Ford a clean pair of heals.

The EVO usually gets better track times.

NSX will beat the Lotus on a track with a straight longer than my little finger!

Humm, CSL v RS6. In the twisties the M3 for sure.

CSL

Saleen

EVO easily

Not sure how the US spec differs, but if the driver is of high ability, the Lotus will take it

3. EVO

4. NSX R

I completly agree

leo_26782 03-08-2005 03:55 PM

M3 CSL

Saleen

Evo

Lotus

This is my best guess (or how I would like it to be)

1::M3 CSL.

2::No idea...

3::EVO VIII MR.

4::Depends alot on the track, but probably the Honda.

T5 03-08-2005 04:43 PM

1. M3 CSL
2. Saleen S7
3. Evo VIII MR
4.Really close but the winner im almost sure that it will be the Elise, if the track doesn´t have much straights offcourse.

Fleischmann 03-08-2005 05:42 PM

1. CSL
2. Saleen S7 of course
3. Evo
4. NSX R

chest3r 03-08-2005 05:43 PM

1. The CSL for sure!

2. Maybe the Saleen

3. Evo, but I prefer it would be the Scooby

4. Maybe the NSX for longer tracks and the Lotus for short ones

gobs3z 03-08-2005 05:57 PM

1. CSL: since it is specifially a TRACK CAR!

2. Saleen: since it was built to compete in LeMans, and was made into a road car.

3. Evo: has always outhandled the STi, but i favor the STi.

4. NSX: is a TRACK CAR and would take out the Lotus Elise on any track, but the Exige would dessimate the NSX.

- M3 CSL if the driver had reasonable car control
- S7 without a doubt because of its racecar-like handling
- EVO - all the track tests keep proving that Mitsus work better on the track but I'd prefer to own a scooby
- Honda vs. Elise - as others claim it would depend on the exact track

mindgam3 03-08-2005 06:09 PM

NSX 193 bhp/tonne

Elise 220 bhp/tonne

Obviously this is not the definitive figure but i'll almost gurantee you that the elise would win given equal drivers on your average circuit

RC45 03-08-2005 11:57 PM

I disagree with the EVO vote - it is too fragile to survive 20 minutes on track.
