What was on my lift tonight...
One THICK ass pair of brake rotors: 357USD EACH, Minimum allowable thickness:30.4 MM. these rotors are about 30.3MM, the new ones are a bit thicker
http://img148.exs.cx/img148/7514/img00087ir.th.jpg One of the new ones: http://img148.exs.cx/img148/7589/img00069qb.th.jpg the wheel it goes behind :D  http://img148.exs.cx/img148/5457/img00071uf.th.jpg HEELLLLOOOOOO :D http://img148.exs.cx/img148/1957/img00052om.th.jpg And the best part of it is..i have to drive it tomorrow :D i'll catch a little vid of it for the DL group. i can't drive it really hard since it has new front pads/rotors and new rear pads, but you'll still here the sound of the engine  |
awsome zfrks62! what a fun job :-D 357 for rotors... how many miles are those recomended for use? (cirtainly, if tracked, less miles)
|
damn, those rotors are thick. $357? damn! are they factory supplied rotors?

Sucks balls when you have to pay for them, but that's the trade of for having excellent brakes. But this guy is kind of nursing a bruised wallet (or will be when he pays for the car) and is wishing he got the extended maintenence plan  and yes ferrarifan, these are oem rotors, seeing as how i work for a dealership  |
wow you lucky ass!!! i want to drive that BEAST!!!

$357.. ;) kinda pricey... considering I can get all 4 rotors for my Z06 at $240 INCLUDING shipping and I still have better braking.. :) :P

I've never driven a vette let alone a Z06, and i've only had the M5 around the block to confirm a tire imbalance, so i really couldn't intelligently argue with you over the performance characteristics. but at least in the M5 i can still get all my groceries home in one trip :P :) |

Me driving an A6 4.2 testing the Quattro system for school is driving a beast the M5 is like Godzilla. |
Just a little update.. i captured the video, and it caught the sound pretty well. There's some background crap that i never heard on the drive but you can hear the engine pretty well.
i just need to edit it a little bit, i got another clip of it idling in my stall when i backed it out later in the day, gave it a gratutious rev  There's just something about hearing 5 liters of 11:1 compression growl, that gives me goosebumps :D Unless anyone knows of free video hosting, i'll be posting it to the vault in the next day or so. :D *edit* two things i forgot: i checked the estimate sheet again today, and the rotors were $345, not $357 and when you wath the video, i apologize for the shakeyness and off kilt frames at times, but i had to hold the camera ontop of the steering wheel with my left hand and shift with my right. Because of this, i accidently bounced the rev limiter twice. I wasn't watching the tach since the camera was blocking it. |
