11 gearshift BMW M5??
There is this article and they said you can get an option with an 11 gearshift?? I don't get it. Can someone expoain this to me?
http://www.bmwusa.com/vehicles/futur...newM5/news.htm |
the SMG control unit has 2 modes: Automated and Sequential
each mode has diffferent shift programs, since the clutch and shifting is computer controlled. 5 different programs in Automated and 6 modes in Sequential. each mode is a harder shift than the last. 1-5 are the same in both modes, with the exception of changing gears with the paddles/lever. program 6 in Sequential reguires the de-activation of the DSC system (push button  ) and is essentially Launch/Burnout mode   |
^^what a show off!!!

Nice my friend. Well done.

does the M5 and new upcoming M6 only have this?
|
all Ms will have this. The E46 M3 already has it as an option, M5 it will be standard and the M6 will as well.
SMG is also an option on all current BMWs, but only has 2 modes and no other shift programs. |
Latest german AMS tested the new M5 and tried different s settings for the SMG.This is the
their result. Mode P400 D5: 0-100 km/h 6,4 seconds 0-160 km/h 14,3 0-200 km/h 21,1 P400 S5: 0-100 km/h 6,0 seconds 0-160 km/h 13,4 0-200 km/h 20,6 P500 D5: 0-100 km/h 5,2 seconds 0-160 km/h 10,7 0-200 km/h 15,3 P500 S1: 0-100 km/h 5,1 seconds 0-160 km/h 10,8 0-200 km/h 15,3 P500 S5: 0-100 km/h 5,0 seconds 0-160 km/h 10,4 0-200 km/h 14,9 P500 S6: 0-100 km/h 4,8 seconds 0-160 km/h 9,7 0-200 km/h 14,3 P500 Sport S6: 0-100 km/h 4,8 seconds 0-160 km/h 9,8 0-200 km/h 14,4 Launch Control: 0-100 km/h 4,7 seconds 0-160 km/h 9,4 0-200 km/h 13,9 D is automatic mode and S is seqventiell mode |
Well... it's a really big difference between 0-200km/h in P400D5 and Launch COntrol!!!
