I know part of this link (talking about the C6 Z06) is over in RC45's section...but what the hell...let's talk about the Supra. :D

Meanwhile, Toyota is cooking up its own limited-production supercar, one that will either be the next Supra (with a possible TXS badge) or a high-end sports car for Lexus. The car caught testing is believed to be an early engineering mule for a 500-hp, 370-lb-ft V10-powered car. Weighing less than 3000 pounds, the sports car is expected to readily run to 190 mph.

Sources say Toyota is eyeing a 2005 Tokyo Motor Show introduction, with an on-sale date in late 2006 or early 2007. Pricing will be in excess of $100,000 for one of an estimated 12,000 that Toyota plans to produce.
I think they will do better if they badge it a Lexus (hopefully it would stay a hardcore sports-car even with the Lexus badge)...in terms of being able to get people to pay $100K...although it would be nice for it to have a Toyota badge.

Wow, V10s with 500hp are really all the rage now-a-days aren't they...;) I think they should go with a twin turbo 2UZFE...but that's just me. :P

That weight is, I think a bit...optimistic...haha

im quite sure i havent seen it yet...

looks dont seem to inspire to me a car worth 100,000.00 unless its in some denominations... passetas (spain) anybody? regardless, im sure japan is dying for a new supercar in the absence of the Skyline, and the dwindling NSX

Just_me 10-13-2004 02:05 AM

According to the site carspyphotos, this is not the new Supra testing.

Not at all.

I would not consider a Car Gallery post a valid discussion topic.. ;)

I thought that the japanese dont make cars with over 300hp? So why is this one gonna have 500? Im gonna be pretty skeptic for now.

adamk24 10-13-2004 03:13 PM

Actually that so called 'gentlemens agreement' has been pretty much disbanned this last year, as the new skyline will be rated somewhere above 350 hp, the HSC was planned at around 400 and a few others all seem to be ignorning that rule for now. :D

PaulGT2164 10-13-2004 07:13 PM

this wont be the next supra, wrong price range, and wrong segment

this will be some kinda nsx competitor or supercar

DeMoN 10-13-2004 08:41 PM

how can there be a new skyline if the infiniti g35 is supposed to be it?

HSC (the next Honda NSX).
which was canned because Honda wanted to go green.
as long as supra looks like this, reminiscent of the 2000GT, i don't care.

And i don't think the above photo is that of the Supra. In fact, that doesn't look like a toyota at all...unless it's a false body...

Wunderbar!
