Yeah all automatics have a huge delay while the slushbox or computer figures out whats going on. Even in triptronic or whatever they call it, it takes forever to shift up or down. I was driving my cousin's mazda6 and i tried to downshift and it took like three seconds and atleast one second on the ups.

A Tiptronic is a lot faster than that. But in general auto boxes do take a bit 'till they downshift when you floor them. Exceptions might be the super Mercs.

Mercs trannys in general have insta shifts. We test drove an E500 and my dad hit the pedal, and BOOM torque all over the place.

Hi,

I think that the fact that you are more of a passenger because you don't shift makes you think it takes longer than it actually does...
In my Dads 5 series putting the lever to S - Mode helps a bit. I'm fine with that. The more you drive with it, the more you like it... But still a manual gearbox is my favourite...
