My god ! I hope that you would not and up like in The Shining, hallucinating  Seems fun to work there between the oldies. where do you work ?

Whats the pay like? It sounds like it would provide a few laughs during the day, although you obviously have to be discreet.

The pay is 8.59€ an hour, and i work shifts (6.15 - 14.15 & 13 - 21) and weekends so in the end i'll have a nice paycheck.

Actually mopsdrop the oldies or psychiatric patients aren't really my thing, later on i want to be in the ER, ICU, operating theatre, clinical imaging or stuff like that, a little more technical. Or even medical urgency team (the MUG like we call it).
But this is an extra expierence i get, can come in handy later on. Cus we have to choose an option in school, i chose global hospital so I don't do internship in psychiatrie...

It's the psychiatric institution of Eeklo I work, 25km's from where I live. And the drive from and to there, well, it's fast! There's a 10km road next to the canal where they just can put speedtraps because of all the bends and the fields next to the road, they can't hide there (but you can do that road at 180km/h :D ). The other part i do have to watch a little, 5 speedcamera's alongside of the road, but as long as you know where they are, no problemo ;)

Ha, then I can put my dad there, he's annoying me the whole time

Sounds interesting and bizarre...

Don't you have to give over 4.30€ of that back to the government - for each hour worked?

BADMIHAI 07-27-2004 01:55 PM

I would probably go crazy if I worked there.

Stikz 07-27-2004 08:15 PM

i had a friend who was an intern at a mental ward. On her first day she hadn't yet received a photo id saying she was an employee. So the guards and nurses kept trying to get her to her 'room'.
By the way, as bad as a mental institution is, working at a nursing home is worse. Anyone who knows Providence Centre in Toronto, i'd advise you not to work in the palliative care section unless you don't mind being depressed. Sucks to say this but its brutal to see people get old.

Dont take psychiatry. Better take butchery(surgery) or so 8) More helpful for mankind than psycho stuff.

If they wouldnt take those pills and other med treatment they would be much culmer IMO

And find more sane job
