Looks 1,000,000 times better than the 5. 6 or 7 series.

That is well balanced design - similar enough to old to be an evolution, not revolution and still look good.

oscargarza88 07-19-2004 11:30 PM

its ok i dont like it as muchad the vurrent one, i think i like all "old" bmw than newer ones

styla21 07-19-2004 11:36 PM

perhaps we are just to resistant to change? i mean speaking just on bmer's - look at the 5 series, there was a lot of controversy prior to it coming out, but it's something i personally really like now. same thing through e36 to e46 evolution.

I love what rc45 said though - its enough to be an evolution, but not a revolution.
any info on new m3? anyone?

the nose looks like it was taken of the new Audis, but i feel the 5 turned out the best, I think bangle was least drunk when he drew its shape

The ones from the interior seem to be the real thing  it looks good but it doesn´t have the big colour monitor so I guess I Drive won´t be standard :?

Oh..and it has the 1 series key and start/stop button :D

The E30 does indeed look better. This one is not bad either, but I like the current one more. Maybe it's just about getting used to the new design.

I don't like the front headlights and taillights. I also don't like the lack of driver oriented instrumentation. I guess I am just a old school bimmer guy.

styla21 07-20-2004 01:38 AM

Remember that this interior is kinda still under wraps tho (literally... see the cloth?) so i wouldnt pay to much attention - but is that starter button for real - thats the one thing i've always wanted! it takes you one step closer to fulfilling that f1 dream.......

The back end seems so much like that of the e46 series, really smooth. which is suprising seeing the direction all the other models took with jagged edges.

Update on new 3 series: Updated information about the next 3 Series

- The 4 and 2 Series name designations will not be used.
- iDrive will be available in conjunction with the navigation system only, similar to the 1 series.
- Dynamic Drive will most likely not be available.
- The car will feature a central computer system that can be updated with new features throughout the car's life cycle.
- Airbag, seat and door sensors are connected, enabling the computer system to detect the size and position of all passengers and to deploy airbags as needed based on that information.
- Next generation xDrive will be available for the sedan and wagon.
- The convertible will not have a retractable hardtop.
- An improved gearbox titled CSG (Central Synchronized Gearbox - similar to Audi's DSG) will be available at the end of '06. Unlike Audi's double clutch system, it will feature a single clutch that can operate significantly faster than current ones.
- New, lighter generation of inline 6 Valvetronic engines is in the works.
- Two turbo engines are presently planned: a 6 cylinder with 333HP and a V8 with 450HP that will not be used for the 3 series.
- The various 3 series models can be produced at any of BMW's five plants.

Introduction dates:

- Sedan (E90) - IAA 2005
- Wagon (E91) - Geneva 2006

It looks way better than the 5 and 7 series, that's for sure!

That's a good point. I was even sceptical to the last 5-series (E39) when it was launched. Now I think that's the best looking 5-series ever. The new one's will probably grow on me, but none of the older models started with such a bad first impression.

styla21 07-20-2004 06:56 AM

gnome, arn't saab swedish made cars? are they popular in norway?

anyways, yea i agree, this 3 series looks to be way more eye pleasing than the 5's and 7's. those new engines are interesting too - it's like a new era though if bmw start to use turbo's. kind of takes the heritage and pride out of the n/a theme they've followed. but then again 450hp??.......

just have to have more info on this m3, it's ridiculous.

nurbrun 07-20-2004 10:21 AM

The M3 looks the best in my opinion
