So basically that 3rotor FD is insane. haha it sounds so sick and wow. 787B...I dont even need to say anything about that. The video speaks for itself.

So thats the legendary car huh?

GT-R_R34 07-17-2004 12:20 AM

i bought the video when the 787b won. is kind of cool when the 787b takes the lead and everybody cheers for it. there you see Schumi driving for Mercedes.

That 4 rotor RX7 is intense. That thing sounds so loud. It sounds like if you took a NA 2 Rotor and a V8 and put them into one.

Why is it that every series that mazda enters with a rotary engine they win, by alot and then they force mazda to add weight to their cars or ban the engine type all together? If the rotary is really that good, let it win and prove to the people that it is a more advanced engine.

Its all about fair competition, just like the new Maserati MC12.

They say the competition is about capable road cars not racing car for the road like the MC12.

Capable road car like Enzo.

Anyone confused?

X-ale 07-17-2004 03:06 AM

/\/\ Huh, ok. So, the enzo is a road racer and the M12 a racer for the road. They both have the same chassis, tranny AND the same engine, right? Is a private Enzo entered in the Lemans?

I loved the 787b then and still love it now so revolutionary the banned it :!:

sergei_dekker85 07-17-2004 08:05 AM

no offense but i just dislike rotary engines cos of the noise and unreliability...My friend is suffering with his FC3S with high fuel consumption and he tells me that it becomes unreliable usually after 5000KM...same goes for the FD...but for the new RENESIS rotary it gets my thumbs up...no offense But i still think that rotaries cannot match pistons in terms of torque

FIA do want to bring in super GT/GTS car to challenge or at least run close to LMP900 roadster phototype, coz those phototypes have so little connection to road car it's not appealing to all car fans.

That's why they changed the rule to try to bring in Carbon Fibre Chassis GT car like Pagani Zonda/Carrera GT/Enzo, but remember what Porsche did with 911 GT1 and Mercedes's CLK GTR under that super GT rule? Zonda is too slow, Porsche has no interest in racing a CGT, and now Maserati tried that old trick to maximize the new GT rule with a homologation special phototype Enzo --- nothing works in FIA's plan, so MC12 is banned.

That being said, show me another gasoline-powered internal combustion engine with 1.3L displacement that makes anything near 150lb-ft. I'll be very impressed if you can. Granted, the amount of fuel it takes to produce that kind of torque in a Rotary is quite a bit more than it would be in a piston-engined vehicle.
