Michael Schumacher - " I am amazed at how the race went. I thought we had a good strategy, where to a certain extent, we sacrificed qualifying for the race, but I never expected it to pay out so early. I was not worried by Kimi's pace at the start because I knew my strategy and even if he had been ahead after my second stop I would not have worried as he had to come in again. I did not want to overdo it and just let the potential of the car do the work. The car was going so well when I had an open track. I lost a comfortable lead with the Safety Car and so I was lucky to have two cars between me and Kimi. The Safety Car was going very slowly and that meant after it went in, I had to fight hard for a couple of laps until my tyres came good and then I was able to pull out a lead again".

Rubens Barrichello -"I had a good race but a tough one although I feel I had made the right choice of strategy at the time. After the start it was clear that Kimi's tyres had warmed up quicker and I found it really difficult to match his pace, then I caught him up and was able to pull away from Button. But after the first pit stop the car felt heavy and I struggled again. I also got stuck behind four or five cars fighting for position and that probably lost me second place and maybe the win. I have to say Michael did a superb job to win on two stops. When the Safety Car came out, the race was alive again, but again immediately after my last pit stop I could not push as hard as I wanted and I could not pass Kimi as although I was quicker in the first sector, he was faster in the third."

Ross Brawn- "Michael was not entirely happy with the car going into qualifying, so we chose a more conservative strategy for him. Rubens was put on a different, more aggressive strategy as he was happy with the handling of his car. That was our interpretation of the race but it turned out to be the other way round, as Michael's car went very well and Rubens' a bit less so. Probably it was the weather that played in Michael's favour and he was able to put in outstanding laps from lap ten to his pit stop. I was shocked when Michael came out ahead of Kimi. We were a bit worried when the Safety Car came out, as although we have fantastic Bridgestone tyres, they do not get up to temperature quite as quickly as those of our rivals and the re-start was a bit of a tricky moment for us. At the time, the race was in our hands and Rubens could have attacked Raikkonen more strongly than he was able in the last few laps. First and third at Silverstone is another great result for us!"

You were blazing quick anyway .... I watched the press conference and then did the victory dance for a couple seconds before logging on to JW ....

- Michael's performance was unreal today - I cant believe he qualified so well considering he had so mch more fuel onboard - 2 stopper v/s 3 stopper for the rest of the front runners. He would have won by 30+secs w/o the safety car incident.

- Kimi was also stunning today - was way quicker than DC on a similar strategy.

- Trulli's shunt was horrendous - the car just seemed to snake this way and that before slamming to the wall. I think he was really lucky to hit the wall with the back of the car as otherwise he might have got injured. Wonder what caused it???

- Fisichella did a sterling job on a one stop strategy to come in the points.

- Button faded away during the race.

- Gene deserves to be kicked out of the race team - pathetic drive.

One more time MS was the fastest. Too bad his car is also the fastest because it would be a great show if he was on a slower car.

He deserves every win man, the amount of effort he puts in he gets results :)

I totally agree, but I guess that won´t happen too soon as the other manufacturers don´t seem to be able to cope with the Ferrari´s speed.

His lap times after he took the lead is amazing...
Lap 10: 1:19.241
Lap 12: 1:19.223
Lap 13: 1:18.918
Lap 14: 1:18.739

the time just keep dropping as if he's taking heavy parts of his car and throw it out the window (wait...there's no window....nor weight..............I guess he's just freaking fast then LOL)

10/11 wins this season...he's unstopable. Greatest driver ever IMO.

DMbaseball1604 07-11-2004 03:40 PM

Kimi drove great..Michael and Ferrari continue to be unbeatable...simply amazing!

10/11 is truly amazing , he has to be the best ever , how many races he has to win to secure the championship ?

18 races in total with current gap to Barrichello in second is 26 pts - so lets check out some of the likely possibilities for the remaining 7 races:

1. Michael always wins and Rubens comes second - Michael clinches it in race 15
2. Michael always wins and Rubens comes third - Michael clinches it in race 15
3. Michael always wins and Rubens comes alternately second or third - Michael clinches it in race 15
See a trend occuring

In fact for Michael to win by race 14, Rubens needs to finishes off the podium twice.

Michael not winning the race or Rubens not finishing a race will possibly move the championship decision to race 16 or 14.

My prediction is on race 15 though....

I think it was one of the best races so far. At the front it was a shame Kimi got held up by traffic otherwise it could have been a bit different.
I was watching the race and viewing the "live timmings" from f1.com and when Kimi pitted Michael put the hammer down and i just looking at his sector times and WTF   i could just see his time in magenta lap, after lap (Indicates a personal best for that driver and may relate to individual sector times as well as a lap time).
He's good. :D

There were very very good fights in the middle of the pack, 3,4,5 cars fighting for a place, fabulous.
And now i just hope that Williams (abismal season just as bad as Mclaren), BAR and Mclarens get a bit faster and we'll have 4 teams fighting for the front. :D

michael schumacher is unbelievable. another terrific drive from the great one to record his 10th win in 11 races. even if kimi weren't held up in traffic, schumacher would have won anyways. michael's pace was spectacular given that he was on a 2 stop strategy as compared to kimi's 3.

It was quite a drive. It's like most of the time Schumacher is driving at 9/10ths, then when he needs to put some time in between himself and the next person, or make up some time when someone pits, he can just turn it up to 11/10ths and blitz everyone.

Good to see Fisichella up a bit higher too.
