stupid piece of shit (someone help me)
my idiotic shitstack of a brother arbitrarily installed msn explorer (a program with which he is not familiar) and now the damn thing is invading my computer and i can't get rid of it. the msn explorer sign in window keeps popping up every 5 minutes and i tried using the control panel's add/remove programs to get rid of it but it doesn't work. the msn explorer icon is gone fron the add/remove programs window but the program is still on my computer. someone please tell me how to permanently remove this (or any other program) that still appears even after it was supposedly removed with the control panel.

geekdiggy do this, its a lot easier... no need to install other programs you don't need to get rid of one you don't want, or to mess about with hidden files etc..
Open a command prompt by clicking Start/Run, then typing "command" and clicking OK. Uninstall MSN Messenger by typing : "rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %systemRoot%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove" (without the quotes), hit enter and its gone :D.. if it gives an error about removing a component just click ok and forget about it, messenger is gone.. |
he needs msn explorer uninstalled not messenger. try reinstalling it then removing it with ad/remove programs.

lol oops... read that too fast :P

anybody? :|
|
well i talked to a trusted friend (who is knowledgable in computers but doesn't know how to help me here) and he said it's no place for a novice to be fucking with the inf folder. i don't trust myself enough to fiddle with system files/folders even if they're not important. and i don't understand the unclear directions given on that site.

naw, really? ya don't say? good thing you answered that, cuz for a second there it looked like i couldn't figure that out for myself, thinking that maybe somebody on the forums can help
|
Delete the dam  c:/program files/msn :!: that should do it...
|
is that even safe? from what i can see (even by making hidden folders/files visible) the MSN folder is empty, but hovering shows it contains 31.0 MB of stuff. but idunno if it's safe to delete it or not, since it did come with this computer. i don't wanna be one of those idiots that deletes program files and then wonders why the computer don't work no more
|
How about this: i delete mine and if i'm gonne for a month you'll know why :fadein:
EDIT: There it's done... there's a hidden foler in the MSN one... it's called MSNcorefiles... I just deleted it... evrything is working fine.. don't know if it will resolve your pop-up thingy there tho  |
In any case. You can make a restore point if you wan't and i can explain to a 10 yrs old how to that but you'll just have to be a little patient with me
