Can No Longer Wash Your Car In Front Of Your House????
I was browsing an automotive detailing forum I frequent and saw this post and thought that it might be of use to those living in the US.
http://www.carwash.com/news.asp?mode=4&N_ID=48664 Apparently it is now illegal to wash your car and let it runoff into a storm drain. Watch out for the police. |
United States of America, that's all I will say...
I'm pretty sure we have something similar in Switzerland too :D not that I ever known somebody that was actually fined for it, but still I can understand that some kind of products should be treated in special centers while normal ones where normal rain water goes are not up to the task...
Thanks to tree-huggers...
Good thing I live in Canada.... Isn't there a law or somehting in Switzerland where you can do anything you want, except you can't harm or piss off another person?
LOL nope, we don't have anything like that :D we have all the basic freedom (opinion, religion and so on), but well, also many no-no :D especially when it's aimed to nature preservation luckily (toward wich most of us are very sensible). In Switzerland you can't for instance burn your own leeves and whatever in your garden, but some town's employees will pass by your home if you call them with a truck to take your stuff away and put it into the proper place.

That sucksssssss, cant imagine not washing my babe in my own house
Fortunately there are a lot of various laws and statutes passed on the books here in the US that are not really enforced. Usually the only way something like this would be enforced is if your neighbor called you in. I guess I will have to start washing my car at night. LOL
This legislation has EPA tree-hugger written all over it.
According to the statute even runoff from ran gutters may not be directed to storm water drains... Quote:
Thank you EPA tree-huggers. The same people that brought us MBTE's as the "safe alternative" to lead in gasoline... |
Screwed up.....
TT:But can you do many legal things that are considered illegal here?
Another example of why govt shouldnt act on environmental statements without further research (the global warming people amongst you, listen up).
I doubt this will be enforced.. but damn it the hug a tree people need to all be forced to go live alone in the freakin rain forest for a year. At least they should be made to suffer like the rest of us.. many of those asses are the ones driving the suvs. Theres only one thing worse then a yuppie.. A yuppie who doubles as a hippy. Hypocricy is their name. |
In Switzerland weed is legal... At least, when i walked around the streets in a village there, they had mariuhana in almost every garden.
hahaha i'm glad i live in an unpopulated part of michigan where we dont have to worry about this stupidity. i wash our cars all the time.....
theres also a few laws in florida retirement neighborhoods where you can't wash your car, work on your car, or have too many cars in your driveway. ridiculous.  |
There's a city here that won't let you have a pickup truck in the driveway for more than 48 hours without a permit it has to be in a garage if you own one, but if it has writting on the sode of it, it must be removed the same day unless special permission is givin, that last part about work trucks is in alot of cities around here. We aren't allowed to burn leaves either and thankfully it's hard to see where I wash my car from the street so If the cops wanted to give me a ticket they would have to be looking for it.
