Civic type R mods
 

I was wondering if anyone has any info about modifying the new Civic type R. There aren't any people in my area doing any mods to their civics as they're all waiting for the end of warranty periods. Does anybody in the UK know of any places to go on the net for info?

Man i dont know, i couldnt find anything on mods for a civic.

the civic type R is awesome, i wish we could get it in the US cause i would own one
i would first get a short ram or a cold air intake, followed by a header and exhaust, no more than 2.5 inch in diameter on the piping, with a nice muffler, i would get a Apexi or HKS exhaust, they sound the nicest on honda motors in my opinion, those should be your first mods, then later add things like valve springs and retainers, cams and cam gears, and ungrade ignition. there are tons of parts available for these cars and they have a very good racing hertiage so its a good choice!

yeah accept the blocks can be a weak point if you choose to use forced induction and the fact that the new one looks like a piece of shit.

well i wouldnt use forced induction the beauty of a honda is high output from small naturally aspirated engines. and its easy to fix the weak blocks...its called sleeves =)

but oh well, to each their own, if you need anyhelp plotting a modding course of action lemme know dirtyhabit

Thanks for the help, guys. Its tough to find performance parts for these crs in the UK. I did however find a Honda dealer in Morecambe who is selling modified versions of the Type R with a power chip, induction system etc. £995 to have the chip fitted to your own car though? The chip itself cant be worth more than a tenner.

Yeah man try www.civictype-r.co.uk and ask about.

Mugen, Spoon and Buddy Club are common aftermarket performance parts suppliers for Hondas too. Google those.

Lancaster Honda (guess where) is a good place to call too. They do an off the shelf kit for the type R, (I think it's called the 'S' kit) and I think they'll still recognise HUK Warranty after they've modded your car.

Good luck. I'd have bought a CTR and swapped in my old VTi if I'd not left the UK.

they are just expensive!

the first upgrades you should do would be intake/exhaust cause those will benefit any upgrades down the road
