Dang dude, Kitt is indeed the fastest car in the world! no shit :D and a car that can actually jump, talk and drive alone isn't really stock :P

I picked up the ateam season 1 on dvd last week. You better believe this is next. This is another case of the car in the tv show was faster then possible at the time.. Though there is a thirdgen firebird that can compete with most anything stock ya want today.. TTA... That was later though.. The particular car that was knight rider started life as a transam.. I believe 84.. Which would make it a mid 15 second 1/4 car with a 305 pushing about 190 hp and weighing about 3200 lbs (for the 80s that was top of the pack.. the camaros were winning car and driver car of the year points at that time and their handling was considered to be one of the best). The later 3rd gens got up to about 3300 lbs and 225 hp and 330 ft lbs of torque(the car I just sold a 5.7 liter 88 camaro). Then there was that turbo transam which was in a league of its own.. pace car in 89 and anniversary car for firebird. turbo charged buick v6 pushing 250hp(as a conservative estimate.. many dinoed more.. as much as 301 hp) and 340 ft/lb torque.
The car had 1LE suspension package including better shocks and springs 12 inch front rotors 11.7 inch rears, air conditioner/radio/power delete, bafled gas tank, and no fog lights, 36 mm front sway bar 24 mm rear, alluminum drive shaft... ect Stock the car ran a 13.3 1/4.. and was good enough through the corners to be the first car ever to pace the indy 500 without modifications required. |
Yeah I saw one of those Turbo Trans Ams today it was a pace car sadly I hate the way those GM pace cars look. It's an interesting car though it had an Automatic it sat right next to the Buick Grand National with the same engine but rarer.

come on SilviaS15Cwest, you're too young to see the background of that series. Remember, it was a tv show, and the car had a brain, could talk like a normal human being, etc, if a car could do that,it could be the fastest car in the world. I remember the episode when kit (or was it kitt??) modified itself with a wing, etc and reached over 400 km/hr It was fantastic! :P i was a child when the tv show aired in my country, so I watched it when I had the chance. maybe someday I'll look for those episodes on kazaa, etc, just to have some fun |
it was KITT Knight Industries Two Thousand And the voice was Mr Pheaney from Boy Meets World
|
Good stuff, although the first season was the worst. They were still trying to iron out the characters, including KITT. Hell, KITT still had the square voice box.
antonioledesma, that mode you are talking about was called "Super Pursuit Mode" KITT was equipped with it after a major rebuild in the two part episode when he was destroyed in an acid pool. KITT also got convertible mode in that same episode. I actually liked KARR more than I liked KITT. :D |
