Jabbas Diablo Is Very Sick
 

My poor diablo appears to be overheating...here is a picture of its normal running temps (oil temp in the bottom left water temp on the top right)

now these are the current temps after driving for around 10 mins and no more than 50 mph (never out of 2nd gear even)

thanks for all the great advice I have been getting from my JW regulars...but no luck....first we checked the coolent

the fans are running perfectly also....

so now it looks like either a sticky thermostat or fucked water pump....so back to good ole Lambo me thinks....

anyone else got any suggestions or would like to make a prediction as to what its likely to be ????

also whats the chances of any permanent damage to the engine with it running at those temps (it was for less than 20 mins)

I really hope it is just the gauge went crazy, but I fear it can be really showing the rigth temp :(

Ouch, If I was you I wouldn't drive it to the dealrship(or where ever you fix the car).

Maybe your low on oil or something like that.

nope it will be a transporter job for sure...and the oil looked fine (check the picture out) maybe its a sign to get an F50 :D

I wouldn't worry about any long term damage. If you didn't drive hard or very long, not much should have happened. My guess would be the waterpump.
You can test the thermostat yourself if you want to pull it out. Just heat up some water and toss it in and see if it opens up. It'll help if you have a thermometer so you know the temp of the water, you'll also want to know when the thermostat is supposed to open up. I'm sure you could call a Lamborghini service place and they will tell you at what temp it should open.

the problem is...everything on that car is almost impossible to get to...you even have to remove the rear wheel to change the battery...(cooling system circled)

Well if your oil is fine, then the pistons and other mechanical stuff will be ok I assume. Notihng melted I hope, the only things that could be affected by those temperatues in your case are the electronis, wires etc could have melted a bit if it was a civic, but the build quality of these beasts is the best in the world, and they can handel 20minutes of 100C torture. I think nothing was damaged Jabba.

There is no way i would be driving it at 110. Its red on the guage for a reason (btw I know Jabbas not going to drive it again). Over heating an alloy head cant be good. If your not careful you will warp your head and blow a head gasket. Or at wost seize your pistons having them stick to the steel sleve, or even crack the head.

My money is on the thermostat or the water pump.

Did you check your belts to make sure the water pump is still connected? (Im not sure if the diablo has a seperate belt to run the AC and water pump or if it runs off the cam belt - if it doesnt run off the cam belt, check the belt).

dam that sux!! Take it too lambo bro thet better fix it you have a lambo, if you decide to get rid of it get an f-40!!!!!!! If you can find it!! Sure you can!

sorry to hear that Jabba! i dont know much about Lambos so i wouldnt even know where to begin. sounds like you have done all the stuff i would have done, checking oil etc., other than that i would be too scared of fucking something up.

my Nova was heating up real bad a few weeks ago and it turned out to be a broken water pump. stuff for my Nova is cheap enough that im kinda happy when it breaks so it gives me an excuse to buy something better LOL

Sorry to hear that Jabba.. Dont know anything about Lambos but my friend has a problem same as u... He had a problem at the water pump..
When he fixed it both problems has gone..

I wouldn't drive it - head gasket or even head damage. Does the temp keep going higher or does it stay at 110?

First, was the oil pressure low? any coolant leaks?
Water pumps usually when they break they just leak, so in that case you should have a coolant leak, a faulty thermostat would definetely raise the water temp if there isn't any leak, think about someone turning the a/c off when it's 110 degrees because he's cold....
Now definetely don't run it anymore and have it checked, but for what i've seen I think it could probably be a faulty thermostat...

What happens if you turn on the heater? would the temp decrease?
