I used to surf some of the Japanese sites to see what the new smaller faster laptops comin to the states were. But most of my old links dont work.

So what small laptops do you guys like? Brands names etc. I want to get something as small as possable, with full kbd, and on board cd drive, cause lets face it carryin a cd drive round is kinds dumb when the point was small and light. So any price range, all the other details are debate able. Lets see whats out there.

i've got the sony Z1XGP. pretty happy with it so far

but there are smaller light portege but i just don't like the specs they offered.

from catalogs, LG looked slim. check them out first to be sure.

Any of the new Centrino laptops, most of them are small and light.

ok i just got my toshiba r100...its kickass. it looks a lot better than i expected and so far has performed better than i expected also. when the laptop is open, its sooo thin...its crazy. no built in drive, but i got a sony external burner. by itself, this thing functions as a regular CD player, except it plays MP3 cds and DVDs as well!! its the same size as a regular cd player. but when u hook it up, its a CD-RW/DVD combo drive. i would recommend this combo to ANYONE who uses a cd player regularly and wants a slim, fast laptop

IBM's Thinkpad X series if you dont mind not having a floppy/combo drive. IBM's Thinkpad T series if you want the floppy & optical drive.

I've heard good things about Toshiba laptops

Also the new Samsung X10 Series Laptops are looking very very light.
