Formula 1 competetive without Shumi?
During this Sundays race Martin Brundle said something interesting, basically pointed out the obvious, "With all the changes proposed to F1 it would be easier to band Michael Shumacher to make the series competitive".
IF Michael wins every race this season or if he comes close should he be band or disadvantaged in favor of Formula 1 racing? (obviously if Michael leaves then F1 is better off, but if he doesn't will any new changes really change the outcome?) |
Bah , you want to ban schumi cuz its the best ? DId the ATP ever thoght of banning Pete Sampras cuz he was the best ? Oh ok ... so we shoud ban Tiger Woods too ... so the PGA becomes competitive ... common guys , Schumi is just the best , thats why ferrari pays him 1/3 of the money they have per year , 60 million dollars out of 200 , and if Schumi gets banned then Barrichelo would win the championship . Ferrari has the best car .

I want BC to stay in a year longer than schumie and see if he gets the title.
I think he deserves it. |
Yeah I agree, I think he he has been in Shumacher's shadow way too long, is very under-rated
|
wow thats odd...
martian brundle made a smart comment. but whats to stop jenason button been dominate next? |
I agrees too, he deserves some credit :)

I think that Schumi will definately retire after totally dominating this season. However i think that the removing of technology in F1 cars would only help him if he decides to stay. Taking away launch control and traction control and eventually semi auto gear boxes will only make him stronger!!!

It isn't Shumi's nor Ferrari's fault that they are so bloody good! If the other drivers or teams can't keep up, it's only their own fault! Don't blame other teams for your own crappy drivers/mechanics!
The reason why they are winning everything is simple, THE NEW RULES!!! The race is won or lost in the pits, and not on the track! When was the last time (except for the first lap) two of the top drivers raced for position? Take Spain for example: On the first lap, Trulli came through like lightning, and Schumi had to play catch-up. He closed the gap, but never cam close enough to put a move on Trulli! But, because everybody has to pit around 8 laps, he didn't have to make a move! He knew hi's pitcrew is better, and will get P1 from Trulli! There were another 58 laps left for Schumi to create a gap between him and the rest of the field! If they were still racing under the old rules, the probably only would have pitted after 20 - 30 laps (depending on 1 or 2 stop strategy, and they started with a full tank of fuel) and Schumi would have been forced to race Trulli for posision!! Michael won under the onld rules, and kickes ass under the new ones, but F1 was much more interesting under the old rules! :| |

If MS wanted to stick it to Trulli he could have, but why? You don't win the race in the first 8 laps. He knows this, he's won races before and has the best race craft of any driver on the grid. Along with Ross Brawn, the knowledge they have of their machinery, and their ability to detect the weaknesses of their competitors WHILE ON TRACK" , is why Michael did not see a reason to give it to Trulli in the opening laps. Trying to play catch up might have had him pit earlier. He was light, Trulli was light, but MS had the better car, and it showed. |
Schumacher will hang it up when his contract ends in 06, if not after the 05 season. Then Kimi or Jenson, depending on who's team they end up on, will dominate, then he'll come up with the same comment to ban them. Why not just ban Ferrari instead, they'll continue to win no matter who's behind the wheel cause of their dedication and massive budget. That would be the only way to make things competitive, not like it'll ever happen, just saying.....

its not his fault hes so good. everyone else needs to step up.
or its just that schumi is like jordan, gretzky, babe ruth, etc. too good to ever touch. |
i would like to see scumacher in jaguar for example....without ross brawn or jean todt...instead of schumacher there would be barrichello who suddeny will become the greatest....hahahaah that would be fun....schumacher behind weber....

You've all missed the point..........If Shumi leaves, whenever he does, will Formula 1 become competitive?
And Barrichello hasn't always finished 2nd this year. |
Competitive? Look at McLaren-Honda in the 80s. Was that competitive??
Formula 1 moves in cycles...much like the stock market...what amazes me is that people never see the large picture. While I agree it's silly to hope for another 1st place winner, the mid-field IS exciting t watch, and 20 years from now people will remember that they too saw the great, wonderful, legendary MS race, as people talk about Stirling Moss and Jim Clark now. Will it become more competitive? I think not...someone else will "dominate" - maybe not as much, but it's almost always the case. If MS leaves, so does Ross Brawn, and maybe Jean Todt (he takes over for Bernie??). That's the end of Ferrari F1. --Dan |
ya like bobafett said, its all cycles. it touches each team every so years.
