Notes:
1. Barrichello will be given a five-place grid penalty
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/74204

2. Vettel will get a ten-place grid penalty following the racing incident with Kubica at the Australian GP

3. Potential for rain this weekend (really hoping for it as Sepang races tend to be boring, downside though is that it won't be a good indicator of how each car would stack against the other)

McLaren, meanwhile, is still under a cloud of shame over the lying incident. It emerges that Hamilton was instructed by McLaren sporting director Dave Ryan to lie. Ryan has since been suspended.

Well well, thanks for that. I suppose 2009 will go down as the year of Ryangate.

It's all about conspiracies and scapegoats.

Mattk 04-04-2009 11:15 AM

Wow, Brawn, Toyota and Red Bull continue their good form. McLaren and Ferrari - what's happening? This is turning out to be an interesting series already.

blue8 04-04-2009 11:47 AM

Yes things are already very interesting just two weeks into the season. We haven't even gone into 'diffuser three.' Weights of each car following the qualifying session. Brawn GP cars once again qualified heavy.

Race completed after 33 laps
P1 Button
P2 Heidfeld
P3 Glock

Half points will be awarded as the race did not complete 75% of the 56 laps.

CarlZ 04-05-2009 07:01 AM

Stupid race, why did it took them some 40 minuts to decide that the race can't continue? Just wasted my time... And why did they stoped it in the first place, drivers can't race in wet weather anymore? Why bother and bring wet wheather tires to the race day then...

And whats un with the darknes there? If races will be happening that late in the future we might see headlights on F1's...

LH2point3 04-05-2009 07:36 AM

Race start moved to late late afternoon (just like Melbourne. Remember the ridiculous shadows) to make for better viewing times for the European audiences.

The Massive front wings will make for great mounting points for the KC Daylighters.

There was flooding on parts of the track so having tires of any sort wasn't such a great thing.
Maybe some propellers and rudder would have worked better.

Mattk 04-05-2009 07:47 AM

I suspect the full story will emerge tomorrow. Another great result for Brawn, though. Honda must be kicking themselves for quitting the game, now.

blue8 04-05-2009 08:39 AM

Plus it was around 6pm already and getting very dark. Still it would have been fun to see if the race continued.

Great performance by Heidfeld! I don't know how he ended up 2nd but he did very well.

Mattk 04-05-2009 08:47 AM

I often feel sorry for Nick Heidfeld. He was much celebrated when he came to F1, and touted as a next-generation McLaren driver, having driven for their Formula 3000 programme. However his junior teammate, Kimi Raikonnen got picked over him, and became world champion. Now, he's being overshadowed by another young gun, Robert Kubica, and everyone think's he's past it. Every success he has will keep critics quiet for that little bit longer and give him confidence for the future.
