I just picked up one of these for my brother from Dell for under $400. This is worth considering :) .

Hrm.. I don't really read up on how well Intels overclock, right now anyways that will change when conroe is widely available, but getting it to 4.1 doesn't seem that hard. I'm just curious what kind of cooling they used as the 805 is a prescott which runs very hot to begin with. I'm pretty damn sure they didn't use that shitty little stock hsf that Intel gives with those cpus.

And I thought the opty 165/170 the best choice these days for ocing, not the 144.

If you get the rigt Pentium D 805 with the exact part number tomhardware says, it will be very overclockable..

The review is very long, but very informative.. talks about the history and development of that particular CPU and it makes sense that it is very overclockable..

ae86_16v, Do you know if you got the right CPU? Also, I don't think the motherboard Dell uses would allow you to adjust the FSB.. in Tom's review they recoommend certain motherboards/chipsets.

^ Yeah probably not. I didn't really try. @ 2.8GHz it feels like already pretty fast already. I just picked up a MacBook as well, I want to feel how Yonah's dual core compared to this. . .

Not really fast guys ... yesterday tested a 805 overcloked to 3300mhz , it did super pi 1m in 42 seconds ...

By comparison a pc in my office with a sempron 64 2800+ ( a 70 dollar cpu ) does 36 seconds at 2560mhz ...

This post just opend my eyes to something...

My PC is really outdated.. It been 3 years now with this thing and I formated it like a billion time now think I need to do something about it..
