914's for sale: cheap (also a bunch of VW stuff)
 

I went to lunch with a couple of my coworkers today and one of the first stops was the VW shop nearby. One of them is looking at turboing his 74 bug and was checking with the local VW expert.

Anyway. They guy saw the HS 25 window marking on the Yoda and asked if i autocrossed. After saying yes, he pointed at the shell of a 914 that was behind us and said he has a rebuilt 1800cc motor and trans sitting in the shop for it and that if i bought the engine and trans assembley, i could have any of the 914 chassis laying around. The one that he was pointing at i think is in the best shape, needs a side panel which he has already cut off another chassis, but it's not a critical thing. There is also a 944 sitting around, but i didn't ask about it.

I would have jumped at it normally, but i can't afford a Porsche for a toy, especially one that needs that much work. He's also got a ton of VW engines laying around, including a Scirroco he was building.

I have his number if anyone is interested, and yes, he will ship engines. Just PM me and i'll relay it to you, or i can call him for you. He has almost anything you can think of, and i'm amazed he knows where it's all hiding amongst the parts and chassis shells. There are also a couple of fiberglass buggy shells laying about.

(no, i am not making anything off this. If you had seen how much stuff is piled up at this shop, you'd want to help get it moved too!!)
