4GB & 8GB sticks coming this year

The only problem with my psp i have is its max capacity of 2gb, this is soon to be resolved and thus making my Ipod redundant :multi: A couple of 8gb sticks is more than enough for my needs. And seeing as though 2gb are going for half retail price on ebay, they shouldnt be too pricey either ;)

This is exactly what the PSP was lacking - a decent storage capacity.

Now i'm a little miffed that i sold mine, but i needed the cash i guess. :bah:

The PSP would make a really slick alternative to the iPod in the car - bigger screen would make it the ideal music player for your car - so it needs a car dock, and a decent Music utility too :)

With chips like that - why bother with hard drives?

Well if these chips really are non-volatile, then no reason at all :)

Of course access times are important as well...current hard drives can be quite speedy

I have yet to play around with the PSP. Apparently, its really good. I love gadgets and this is one I havent tried myself.

The Quantum-Optical technology has a minimum sustained write speed of 6 gigabytes (GB) per second and a read speed of 8 GB per second.

doesen't sound exactly slow ;)

But no doubt these are far from mass production - plus it wont fit in my psp ;)

The retial price of sonys sticks are fairly pricey but as i said, they're going for hlaf that on ebay.

If sony gets its act together, I have a feeling the next generation psp will be the only gadget i'll need

 yeah not so slow. However, there's no interface capable of supporting that type of speed. Even processor sockets are 6.4 GB/s (socket 478)

I browsed that site a little though, and it looks as though they're making some of the cards compatible with normal IDE pins. Pity IDE maxes out at 133 MB/s
