CrashBox 360 Finally got mine back
So I have to rant and rave at Microsoft for a minute, as I am pretty pissed off right now.
I have a launch day XBOX 360, and it has been running basically flawless untill the last month, when I started to get the red-lights of death, and had the screen freezing. I did my research online about what the lights of death ment, possible ways to fix it, and such. So I called MS support a few days ago, talked to a very nice gentleman who sent me through the same stupid steps, but because I was unable to get the box to freeze while I was on the phone, he would not put in a work order. So after a few days of cussing at the box freezing, I called MS again today, talked to a complete B**CH, explained I was still having the problem, so she told me to turn on the XBOX and go to the dashboard. The box then froze, I told her, and she gave me the quote of the day "Just because your box is freezing, dosnt mean you have a defective box" BULLSHIT LADY, it has been giving me the hardware failure lights for a month, and you are telling the box isnt defective!!! After a few more minutes, she got the work order form filled out and finally told me my xbox would be repaired. She then told me it was going to be 140 bucks. Again BULLSHIT!! I told her that I bought my box on the release date. She then told me that she dosnt care when I bought my xbox, it matters when it was manufactured. Dude, honestly, are people that stupid that they cant realize that if I bought the box in 2005, then it had to have been manufactured in 2005! So the repair is covered under warrenty, and shipping was supposed to be covered, but apparently microsoft is no longer covering shipping the box to them. Is anyone else who has a 360 having problems with it? and have they had to send it back for repairs? I'm pretty pissed off that Microsoft sold a defective product and expects people to pay them to fix it! I wanted to share my experience for those of you thinking about buying a video game console for your kids this Christmas season, just beware and do your research on warrenties. |
Still got the good ol' normal Xbox :) No problems with that one..

gave me an idea for a new poll option, thanks!

I remember reading at one point that launch systems had their warranty extended. No idea how long though.
If you didn't go through with the work order, call again and again, odds are you'll get someone different each time. I would just keep bitching untill they did it for free. It's worked for a few people. I know Gis had to send his in. I haven't had any problems with mine. It did lock up once, but thats it. I've never seen the red lights. I feel your pain though, my Xbox and PS2 both crapped out on me. They are too damn expensive to break as often as they do. I just wonder how long it'll be before PS3's start crapping out. |
My only game console, one of the original PlayStations, no longer works. I now have no gaming console.
That really sucks, but if it's covered under warranty, it's covered under warranty and there's nothing they can do about that. |
Go PS2... ;)

talk to another represntative it should be for you mine is modded and runing great  |
^^^
you have balls to mod it, especially with them all breaking Can you still get on XBOX Live, I know they are really cracking down on that |
I am running Xtreme Firmware 5.0a and have just downloaded the dashboard updates, so far so good. "backed - up" games are even running on cheap ass media with no problems.

i have never had a gaming system take a crap on me. everything from NES to the 360. i have had my PS2 and 360 skip with dirty CDs but nothing major. i did have to take apart my PS2 and clean it of dust and dirt.
|
The 360 was the first system to take a crap on me, and I've had the NES, 64, and XBOX and played them all insane amounts of time (2 brothers). We even dropped a sign  on the 64, and it ran just fine, it just had a big crack and dent on the left side of the console.

UDATE WITH NEWS!!!!!!

I found this out when i called 1-800-4MY-XBOX about my repair order. I was quite happy, even though mine was covered under the "extened warrenty" for boxes manufactued in 2005. I was following your advise and the advise of those on the net about calling and calling till I got someone who would agree that microsoft is paying for shipping. On my 1st attempt I got an incredibly nice gentleman who told me the 1st lady I spoke to was technically correct, though he would cancel the work order and start a new one, where the shipping was paid for. I didnt have to give him my life story, all I had to do was confirm who I am. :D This made my day, and perhaps my holidays, as I am getting a "new" box that I can purchase a 50 buck 2-year warrenty that will cover ANYTHING that is XBOX 360 related if it breaks. :multi: :multi: :multi: :multi: :multi: :multi: :multi: :multi: |
That's good since I am contemplating acquiring one.

12 hours ago I would have told you to NEVER buy one, but with the extended Microsoft warrenty they must be pretty confident that they have/are fixing the GPU sodders. Its an awesome console (when it works) and has a really good game lineup. Just make sure you get the longest warrenty possible when you buy it. I am getting a 2 year when I get me refurb one. |
