Useless. My HDD is 40GB so WTF do I need 1TB for an email account.

THis race has been going on for uite sometime now...first of all a few 1GB accounts were available, including Gmail, then out came that 3GB account. However I didn't think the amount would increase so dramatically.

AlienDB7 12-21-2004 06:01 PM

They even count 1024 per k! Wonder how many TB of space they have... gmail is more than enough for me, even my yahoo account is only 1% full.

FerrariKiller 12-21-2004 06:05 PM

i'm signing up now, i'll decide if it's pointless later

Fleischmann 12-21-2004 06:05 PM

Imagine how many files you can store...let's say each one can have max. 10MB...holy shit...

ikon2003 12-21-2004 06:11 PM

WTF? that's insane. I thought Gmail w/ it's one gigabyte was a lot. Never even heard of Hriders. I wonder how they can afford to give that much free space...

It's not a server, it's a damn email account, for wich 100 MB are already too much IMO

5vz-fe 12-21-2004 06:44 PM

tho we could open an account in the name of JW, so we could share files that way

abbor 12-21-2004 06:52 PM

How big is the maximum size per e-mail?

graywolf624 12-21-2004 06:53 PM

Prediction:
Similar to the famous free services under the .com boom..
Everyone will rush to offer free space.. up too a point where there cost gets too high.. Then suddenly it will disappear.. maybe even completely.

Lukasz 12-21-2004 08:39 PM

LOL lets sign up as many people as possible from here and then start a chain mail with stupidly large attachments to each other .. and then keep resending it until that 10000 petabyte server cluster crashes

possessed_beaver 12-21-2004 10:56 PM

"overkill"

lol nice idea dan - quite evil!

RC45 12-22-2004 02:07 AM

They are already down...

We are receiving so many requests for our free 1 TB/500MB attachment email account that you may experience a downtime regarding receiving email for a few hours as we are currently adding more email servers so you can enjoy our site for many years to come.
BTW - my email their is [email protected] -- send me some 500mb attachments so we start the downhill spiral... ;)

5vz-fe 12-22-2004 03:35 AM

What if the server is smart enough to do a md5 on the file and only keep one copy?

TT 12-23-2004 02:27 PM
