graywolf624 12-20-2005 07:58 PM

Uncool. Ugly duckling?

MIHALS 12-20-2005 08:23 PM

the only cool peugeot GTi!!! you can have a LOT of fun with this small pocket rocket, even if it's old like hell...

Seriously Cool :D

chest3r 12-20-2005 08:35 PM

for a hatch its beautiful! its between this and a Scirocco for my 2nd car, depending on what I can find/ how cheap I can get the insurance

I liked it since I was a little boy my favorite GTI

Subzero since this is now becoming a classic and bought by people who love the car instead of buying another hot hatch.

Wyclef 12-21-2005 08:21 AM

Cool as hell!

crayzayjay 12-21-2005 02:05 PM

Very cool, but not subzero.

|Nuno| 12-21-2005 06:24 PM

Cool.

Ghostbat 12-21-2005 07:01 PM

I just love this car. Only driven it once but it was great. So much better than the 206 GTI. The ultimate GTI in my book. SZ.

taygunho 12-27-2005 02:05 PM

cool.
One of the best GTi ever

LotusGT1 12-28-2005 09:24 AM

Close to subzero...best hatch in its day, and a classic in the making (if it isn't already)

I would go with the 205 1.9 every time given those two to choose from. I am assuming you mean a Scirrocco Scala rather than a GTX 16V, even so, the pug will be lighter and I can also guess the better handling car.

Anyway, back to the topic this car is at the very least cool.

This car has great styling and the 1.9's are just monster cars, great fun, especially with a Mi16 motor dropped in.

A modern classic. One of a handful of Subzero hatchbacks. 8)

Very common, thus not very exotic. Too many kids are buying second hand models and ricing them up, thus upping the "annoying" aspect of seeing these things going up and down the streets with their fart cans blaring.

The looks are too angular for my taste, gives it a very retro look and I'm not really into this look (I know some people are). Although a practical car in some aspects, and great to toss around, I can't put a car like this into the cool or subzero bracket, simply because there are so many other cars that do it better, are more exciting, and ultimately look better.

Also, my experience from Peugeot has shown that they cannot be trusted with your car for repairs of any kind, nor for actually testing a car as it takes up to 4 tries to find a car which works troublefree during a test drive. This soured my "Peugeot experience" greatly and wouldn't recommend buying a Peugeot (at least not from the Geneva dealers).

I just don't think it's anything special when I see it, and I don't think this will change. Sorry, I think it's somewhere between uncool and seriously uncool (can't even remember what I voted for after I finished typing this out  )

Ford Capri 2.8i 02-15-2007 05:37 PM

Subzero without a doubt; Dani knows perfectly that its my favourite hot hatch ever alongside an Opel Kadett GSI 16V or the Vauxhall Astra GTE 16V

TopGearNL 02-15-2007 05:44 PM

Very cool but not subzero!

Ford Capri 2.8i 02-15-2007 06:07 PM

Once I dont have the permission to post the pics, and wishing not to make Dani angry (Dani knows quite a bit my behaviour), Ill post my favourite; here we go

The Vauxhall Astra GTE 16v or the Opel Kadett GSI 16v

Im as crazy as Ive been thinking many times to see a Kadett on the street, and loan it with the vectra that I own although the vectra is fast, newer and in much better conditions

Z3uS 02-15-2007 07:38 PM

I just don't like it. Uncool.

The 1.3 Rallye was my very first car! Very light & nimble and what an awesome sound from those 2 twin-choke Weber carbs! Had a lot of fun with that car :D

But now on-topic: The GTi is very cool, but not sub-zero.

Mattk 02-16-2007 05:54 AM

It's not the prettiest, but it's definitely a neat little car. Cool.

Stoopie 02-16-2007 07:48 AM

Hm don't like it that much. Looks like a boat to me. Uncool..

silentm 02-16-2007 02:46 PM

very cool for me :)

Ford Capri 2.8i 02-16-2007 04:55 PM

Of course I adore the 205; in fact its written it in the page before, and mentioned also that the 205 alongside the Opel Kadett GSI 16v/Vauxhall Astra GTE 16v are my favourites hot hatches although IMO the R5 GT Turbo deserves to be subzero among a few other hot hatches such as the pug 309 GTI 16, the pug 306 GTI, the citroen ZX 16V (167cv)

Ford Capri 2.8i 02-16-2007 04:55 PM

Sorry if I created some confusion

gucom 02-16-2007 06:33 PM

i think especially here in europe, this car is properly cool (as long as its not riced). The cool wall was once created to say wether you looked cool in a car, not wether u liked its performance or looks or anything... basically you look pretty darn cool in one of these (as long as ur not over 30 or 35 of course :P ), for a students' car its right up there...

Styled by Pininfarina!

Ford Capri 2.8i 02-16-2007 07:04 PM

Yeah, as far as I know every model was designed by Pininfarina, I mean; the 3 door 205, the 5 door, and the cabrio; BTW I dont understand the pug´s policy being faithfull with Pininfarina for 20 years or so and with very brilliant results in terms of shape and looking, and nowadays making horrible cars such as the 207, 407, 1007, and so on.....since the 306 era pug has changed, not only the cars apperance, and of course; backwards

Ford Capri 2.8i 02-16-2007 07:08 PM

BTW; nobody has any opinion about the Vauxhall Astra GTE 16v or the Opel Kadett GSI 16v?

205 GTI is cool, but i may be a touch biased (i have a gunmetal grey 1.9 in the garage atm). ;)

It's my favourite looking hot hatch of all time. The waistline which swoops from the rear window down to the headlight looks fantastic when it catches light, the overhangs are tiny, and the wheels are barely contained by the arch extensions. From a distance and low down, the car looks like a big-footed puppy straining at its leash. :)

Handling wise, my favourite FWD of all time. The steering is right up there with an elise, it makes integra type-r's feel muted. The suspension handles bumps better than modern hatches, whilst still offering razor-sharp responses. Also, the car has the ability to make understeer non-existant. You can oversteer by lifting, braking, or simply steering too fast (great technique). I've used mid-corner bumps to slide the car, it's that confidence inspiring.

Ooh, and i should mention that it'll outbrake a Porsche 996. Yep yep, fantastic car.

Cool too!

liveaxle 10-21-2009 10:53 AM

Gutsy little pocket rocket with clean styling and great chassis.
Cool!
