Carrera gt - belgian race version being build
Exciting project reveiled a couple of days ago. Some hot entrepeneur over here in Belgium bought a Carrera GT and is going to change it into a fullblood racecar. It's going to take some time ofcourse because nothing really excist specifically for the CGT and they won't get support from Porsche.
Yesterday i was in Spa-Francorchamps and i saw the car because they are going to explore it's capabilities in a national Belcar-race. Everything is standard at the moment so that will be interesting. In the future they will decide in which championship they will compete when the car is finished, possibilities are: Le Mans, LMES, FIA GT and Belcar. here some pictunes of the car http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/1410/carrera1dj.th.jpg |
Can be interesting, but I would wait to see what they do with it before turning too enthusiatic :| I doubt this car was made to be tuned.
But PLEASE: choose the big rear wing in the pictures :D |
Exciting project without doubt
|
I'm eagerly waiting for this car hitting the race tracks :!:
Thanks for posting it Mclarenboy Cheers |
hmm sounds very interesting, would be VERY nice to see (and hear 8) :D ) a CGT at Le Mans some day :D

well, as st-a says, its perfect... but also, it started life as a Le Mans project; i dont doubt that they could be fairly competitive with the car |
Interesting idea and I'd like to see the results... but I doubt whether this will be a success to be honest.
|
could be nice idea and if they'll be succesfull, they won't stay just by one CGT :D
hopefully they'll have enough of everything to finish their plan.... any "live" pics? |
maybe, i'll have to ask/look around - i didn't stay at Spa because i was so freakin tired from having to work so damn much this past week
|
Now here's something I'm looking forward to. :good:
|
here's a pic
and i've found out that it's not going to participate in the race, but will only do a demorun of a few laps before the race. http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/51/porsche6rk.th.jpg |
yeah this is interesting to say the least.
i'm sure there are alot of body parts and engine/tranmision components that can be swapped out for more precise, lighter and less durable parts. i'm curious as to what was done to the car in order to lighten and stiffen it? |

there are a few other groups who could it fantastic too... Holbert Racing here in the states would be able to do it, or recomend the best available to do it... but based on the pictures, the CGT looks just sticker-fied  |
Some Magazine at Barns & N. had an article where they raced a track prepaired GT3 RSR and a Carrera GT in street form and the GT3 RSR won by a hair. The Carrera GT is one of my favorite cars. They said with track tires it may have beaten the RSR.
On the street or in war paint, the C GT is one fine ride. Allan |
There aren't any other teams racing the CGT right now are there? This is definitely a cool project!!!
