it's only a matter of time before full HD video recording ~can~ be available through the SLR's + lenses... I've been reading that video capture is going to go in on the next generation of SLR's even.

Nikon have a winner there if it's priced 'well enough' :)

When is the Canon 50D supposed to come out again? LOL

styla21 07-01-2008 01:40 AM

Impressive! When it is to be officially released?:-)
The side-by-side photo really shows the size difference!!

Edit: Nth you beat me by 10 seconds. Price is ~$3000.

^ Yeah suppose to be $2999. Not bad at all.

Yeah the 5D Mk II is suppose to be coming out soon too.

Did somebody here already took some picture with the D700???
I now use the D300, it's an amazing machine, the D700 with FX should be mindblowing I think!

Yes, I'm planning to buy one but it's a little to expensive for my bufget. But...WTH, I can always borrow money. Here in Sweden it's about $3700.

There is a couple o nice links:

The last one only has a "preview" of the camera but I guess a real test will come up soon.

D700 the best camera!

I think the 5D might be worth switching to Canon...

Definitely the right price point at $2700. We will see how it performs though, for me, I always take low noise of a 12mp over the higher noise of 21mp. Then again 21mp is HUGE!

Nikon is suppose to be working on the response right now with the 24mp sensor from what I read in the rumormills.

Who said the MP wars are over? Haha.

21mp is way too much... have enough trouble working with my 6mb RAW files!

But the HD recording is what I'm really after..

Yeah that's why I am probably gonna pick up a D90 w/ the 720p HD recording. Should be good enough for short clips.

I always said, I think MP wise, I think the sweet spot is around 8mp.

the video is an interesting feature; however, I wonder if it will be able to have a live mic attachment for some proper audio with little/no wind noise? Combined with Canon L lenses, the 5 seems to be a new powerhouse Johnny expert in all.

SLR pro's are upset with some of the new features since they are traditionalists that want nothing more then a SLR in their camera, and see paying for the additional features as rediculous.

I was planning on upgrading from my 40D to the 50D, but the 5D seems like it will be my next step as well... of course, I'll keep the 40D still. (6.5 fps is useful in sporting shots)

MPs only matter if photography is your profession, specifically if actually do a lot of LARGE prints.

I also am looking at the D90.. Maybe as soon as my next paycheck.. My D50 needs to be cleaned anyway, so I might as well just sell it ;)
