Dang, that is one good looking GT3, still hate the plastic center console tho. :?
I would prefer the burgandy color on the turbo.

jon_s 01-30-2006 12:50 PM

 The GT3 looks HOT!!

only one problem i see with the GT3... the yellow stitching doesnt seem to go with the black interior... well, we cant see the seats...

GREAT idea dani/st-a ;)

pzgren 01-30-2006 03:14 PM

looks great outside but why does a GT3 has a navigation system?

hamlet 01-30-2006 05:08 PM

don't know where but I heard that the new 997 GT3 will have a completely different rear wing than seen on the spy shots. They just fitted a "standard" wing for the road tests but they in fact have a completely new one. Does someone know about it?

ae86_16v 01-30-2006 11:41 PM

What's the deal w/ the dinky foglights on the TT? The rear end does look amazing though.

You are definitively our official 997 turbo & 997 GT3 hunter here at the Porsche Central !

Perhaps that explains a little bit why we have this thread now. :P

I wish they designed a new wheel for the 997 GT3, these are 99% the same as the ones on the 996 MkII expect for the size, which cleary is 19" instead of 18".

htfaber 01-31-2006 09:53 AM

Love the GT3 interior with the alcantara wheel and dash. Superb.

McLaren4eVa 02-12-2006 04:22 PM

Loved The Old GT3 Ferrari Performance Extremely Good Bulid Quality And About 30K Cheaper And Looks Good Too
Is This The 1 With 415BHP If it Is Im Sure it'll Monster Anything Round A Track

997 GT3 RS ?

http://www.porschecentrumeindhoven.n...gt3_rs_997.htm

nthfinity 03-13-2006 03:44 PM

seems they are testing in Michigan... i ran into them about 2 weeks ago on US23 near 14... one had duel tailpipes... the other 2 had single pipes... (again, an instance i should've had my camera)

it seems they are coming out pretty soon, is my guess :)

anyway... :)

New pics of the 997 GT3 RS spotted at the Nürburgring this weekend.
This car is going to be awesome, it looks so agressive in its widebody suit! :D

Sorry to ask stupid questions, but how do you know it is a RS?

yg60m 03-29-2006 02:51 PM

I also read something in a magazine about an RS version to be unveiled in in the end of 2006 ... Why not :|

Well to tell you the truth, I'm not 100% sure. I've read a lot of rumours about the 997GT3RS being a wide-body version of the "normal" GT3.

Just look at this pic and compare the rear wheel-arches to the standard GT3... They're MUCH wider! :D

Svensson 03-29-2006 03:35 PM

Yep... and start saving some money! :)

chest3r 03-29-2006 05:03 PM

GT3 RS ?!? Hummm It looks just a gorgeous GT3, to me !!

I hope the RS will look different than the normal GT3, just like the old 996 8)

Schwalbe 03-29-2006 05:33 PM

To see a Porsche 997 GT3 in this state of test at the Ring when the production model was revealed indicate to me that there's strong chance that it's a improved model of the GT3, like a RS version.

Svensson 03-29-2006 09:11 PM

^ Yeah, but still it looks quite notably wider at the rear compared to a normal GT3, or is it just me?

The pic is quite old actually - previous to the GT3 launch at Geneva if I'm not mistaken... :?

I based my remark on the pictures that Svensson posted, but after several observations I must go to the obviousness that it's simply a 997 GT3. Nevertheless, I find that curious to see a 997 GT3 with the black color scheme tested on Nordschleife Ring last week. :hmm:

The future 997 RS will probably look like the 997 GT3 Cup IMO.

gobs3z 03-29-2006 10:22 PM

Other than it not having the regular GT2 front end, why is there not speculation that it's the knew GT2? I just really doubt that they would already be working on an RS since the last one came out very late in the 996's life, and the 360CS isn't even out yet. Whatever it is it looks promising :)

Interesting point, but I don't think the black car is the 997GT2. It looks exáctly like the other GT3's we've seen, except for the wider rear wheelarches. I think the GT2 will look a lot different i.e. different front (like you said), bigger airintakes (like the 997Turbo), entirely other back-end, a different spoiler etc.

Of course it could be a test mule, but then I think the car would be a lot more covered up with tape etc. To see an almost production ready car looking exactly like a GT3 but only wider, leads me to the conclusion that it could well be the new RS. Or maybe it's just wishful thinking... :P

Svensson 03-30-2006 07:51 AM

Just read that the respected Dutch car mag "Autovisie" is also claiming that the lightweight 997GT3 RS will be unveiled next autumn and that it will have the widebody of the Carrera 4.

Again, no official news of course, but Autovisie has it right most of the times...

gobs3z 03-30-2006 10:10 AM

Well that makes sense, i just wanted to bring up the option, and wow that seems really early for an RS, can't wait!

The fact that Porsche requested to have the pictures removed, tells me enough... It's definately no normal GT3!
RS in the house baby! :D

yg60m 04-08-2006 01:43 AM

Yes, it's almost official, I read in a Porsche mag. that the RS will be unveiled in September

HOLY GOD! i was seriously wondering the abilities of the 3.8 liter engine... and further, being a flawed design  (and i thought for good reason; im quite glad to see im very wrong! :) )

thanks for the link st-A!

Rumour:

2007 Cayman 2.7 240PS
2007 Boxster S 3.4 295PS

Seems quite logical, Boxster S getting the 3.4 from the Cayman S.
And the Cayman will get the same engine as the Boxster.

EDIT: Cayman is already officially released ! Check "Porsche News"

Spy Shot: Panamera @ the Nurburgring

yes, it is the Panamera

http://www.germancarfans.com/spyphot...524.001.1L.jpg

Quote:

Porsche’s Panamera project gains speed
Porsche issued a press release on Monday confirming the all-new four door sports coupe, Panamera, is going to be assembled in Leipzig Germany thus creating 600 new jobs. The body will be manufactured in the Volkswagen plant in Hannover, and the engines will come from Porsche’s home base in Stuttgart. Plans are to produce 20,000 units per year from 2009 onwards.

Since the Panamera is an all new model segment, Porsche has adopted vehicles from other various German manufacturers including Audi and BMW as well as their very own Cayenne to carry out the first stages of prototype development. While performing high speed testing at Nürburgring last week, Porsche engineers were spotted with one of the Panamera test mules using a BMW M5 body as its host. One of our spy photographers caught the M5 prototype showing a small glimpse of the Panamera’s future performance with truly tire smoking results. The Panamera will be a front-engined four seater with rear and all-wheel-drive. Power will come from multiple V8 and V10 engines delivering between 340 and 600 HP. The car is supposed to cost 70,000 to 100,000 Euros.

very slick Porsche, very slick
