MIHALS says GOODBYE Brighton and London :(
 

time has come and I'm going back to my country (Czech Rep.). it ran away so fast, that I'm very sad to write this topic... :cry:

I was basically decided to come back in september, but today my householder gave us notice, that we have to move out by the end of june due to rebuilding the house. it would be very dificult for me to look for another place to stay just for 2 months and also my G/F was about to come to see me for those 2 months. that's really hard to find something in the town like Brighton (touristic city, lots of ppl moving everyday...). so I decided to leave this house and country already in the end of this month.

and that means TWO MAIN THINGS:

1) I'm leaving everyday's nice car sightings - that's the most painful thing for me as a car hunter and enthusiast :cry: in Czech I can only go to Prague to some dealerships to see the cars I see here on the streets :bah: :( so I can say JW IS LOSING ONE CARHUNTER :cry:

2) Last few months I started thinking about some "toy" for up to €5.300 Eur and my choice is E36 320i :D so it should justify my shorter stay enough :D (if you have any other "hot favourite" don't be shy and tell me please :wink:

so goodbye London's Lambo Dealer, CarSights, beautiful seafront scenery and all what I'll be missing... :cry: :bye:

A shame to leave the UK, but you will enjoy being closer to your GF and home etc.

I'm glad you enjoyed your time in the UK, it is a nice country to live in and of course, cars are pretty cool in this country compared to Czech.

Be sure to remember to log on JW, despite losing you as a car hunter, you're still a great member.

Brighton Driveout 3

FOC @ Brighton Marina.

On the Sunday 25th June, the Kent FOC will be displaying their cars at the Marina Village down in Brighton Marina. The fact that it is FOC is irrelevant as all may come.

The plan is;

* Meet up somewhere
* Drive down in convoy
* Park cars at marina
* Eat breakfast/lunch drink tea/beer, and generally mill around until early afternoon
* Convoy back, or drift off as you wish

This is our third year of this event and it gets better each time.

I have signed a pact with the almighty in order to pretty much guarantee good weather, but I accept no real responsibility if it pi$$es down! But for the last two years, sunburn has been a much bigger problem. So you are advised to pack the Ambre Solaire.

Last years convoy was a blast on the motorway, which I felt a little dull, so this year we are open to suggestion as to alternative routes (but I reckon coming via Lewes and going through the Cuilfail Tunnel is a must). Any ideas based on starting at Clacketts, or maybe the Grasshopper?

BTW, this is intended as a spouse-friendly event, bless ‘em! (I’ll probably cop an unfortunate one for that, but Sue really enjoyed herself last year)

I can definitely recommend an E36. :wink: For up to €5.000 there are 325s or 323s in good condition to be had as well. I love my 320i, but more torque and hp would be welcome. I'd consider it if I were you. Running costs are basically the same.

Sometimes huge decisions in life have to be made, and if for whatever reason it may look initially bad, good usually comes of it. Good Luck.

I'll think about the 325 or 323 (isn't it 330?) if you say it's the same running cost, thanx for info! I think the best will be to bring it from germany or switzerland as I don't trust to any car in czech - I know czech drivers ... :x

There was no 330. Max was the 328, which is quite a good engine actually! As Roland, I am happy with my 320i but some more punch won't hurt ;)

BTW, never really tried to visit "independent" garages, but maintenance of an E36 through the official dealers net isn't cheap at all

I go to a BMW specialist, which uses official parts and only services BMWs. It used to be a dealer. Everyone who works there is a BMW enthusiast and they love to share their insights and talk you through what they're doing. And it's cheaper than the regular dealer.

If you find a car that has been treated and maintained well, E36s are very reliable cars. The M50 and M52 engines are nearly bullitproof and a joy to drive.

thanx guys! the high price of "new" parts doesn't make me any happy at all, but if something is what you dream about... (well, I don't think I won't have money for Zonda F in next few........... light years) :bah: :lol: so I'm staying on the ground and dreaming about E36 :)
