The pinicle of motorsports

Formula One engine development will be effectively frozen from this October, the FIA announced on Monday. According to the sport's governing body, whatever engine design the teams run at the 2006 Chinese Grand Prix will then be used until at least 2009.
The FIA had been planning an engine freeze from 2008, with teams having to homologate those engines this year. Monday’s news means the teams will now avoid the unnecessary expense of continuing development throughout 2007, only to then have to revert to their earlier designs.

I hate max mosley .. even if hes got nothing to do with thats ....

jsut think what will hapenned to the engines which have cooling problems like the merc / cossworth / honda engines

thank you FIA!! :fuck: :fuck: :alienflip: :wanker: :slap:

FUck you Max!

BTW, is there any way to get max out of power? If not, now is the perfect time to breakaway and form that new series the GPMA was talking about.

Odd question, what if when the engine freeze occurs there is a flaw with an engine manufacturer's design and their engine blows everytime cus of it...what happens then?

more proof F1 is the dumbest sport since watermelon tossing. ;)

black_magician 08-07-2006 07:40 PM

^^blame Mad Max, it's not F1's fault.

ZfrkS62 08-07-2006 09:37 PM

and there goes F1's last hope of innovation. The engines were the best technological part :(

I feel sorry for all the teams that have that quirky little gremlin that's been causing the engines to go Ka-Blammo! :(

So basically if you're not competitive in China, you're fucked for the next 2 years as well...

"Monday’s news means the teams will now avoid the unnecessary expense of continuing development throughout 2007"

Well if they had left the old V10s in, the teams would've saved tens of millions of dollars which were otherwise spent on developing the brand new V8s... Great job! As has been said many times before, they could have just used a 10 cent air restrictor and rev-limit the V10 ala Torro Rosso, and they would've had an extremely cost-effective solution, as well as extending the life of the engines significantly since they would be running far below their maximum, unlike the completely strung-out V8s.

Baka baka baka...

nickthaskater 08-07-2006 10:08 PM

If they're that concerned about spending, maybe rethink some of those massive fucking presentation centres that the teams truck around to each event... BMW-Sauber's is made up of like 8 full-size semi trucks, with all sorts of plasma screens and a huge glass fascia etc. Certainly a few million goes towards those alone.

nickthaskater 08-07-2006 10:43 PM

They might as well just bring over the GP2 cars and stuff the F1 engines into them at this rate.

saadie 08-14-2006 04:17 AM

yep ...

how many teams are there ? 11
how many engine manufacturers are there ? 7 ....

most of the smaller teams like sauber aguri midlands williams .... do they make engines ...nooo .. soo how are cutting cost gonna help those poor souls lol ....

this idea is just plain dumb lol ...

just had a thought soo i let it out
