My 1997 Nissan Maxima SE

I drive a 97 Maxima Se which I love. Im presently making plans for a new car: 97 Corvette, 95 Skyline GT-R or 1994-1996 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo. Until then its Maximaland. Will be moving to New Zealand in 12-18 more months which has alot to do with next car, and makes the Corvette a tough decision but will have to see. I know we are taking over the Maxima.

The 97 Max has been in the shop for almost 10 days now. Getting fitted with complete body kit, and then carbon fiber hood. Why so much love for a FWD car that most people would think only granny could love ? I dont know really ? I got the car in 1997 for 22,000 US and just enjoyed the car and have never had a moments trouble out of her. The 5 speed manual tranny made her even that much more fun to drive. Presently at the 145,000 mile mark.

The VQ30DE has been good to me. Coming stock with 190 HP and 205 torque, and with the addition of basic bolt on's the Max snatched a 14.39 @ 95.31 mph all motor back in October, 2003. With even cooler weather and another weight reduction mod (put in racing seats - 47 pounds) im expecting a low 14.2 or high 14.29.

Speaking of weight reduction I will be dropping another 20 pounds or so with cf hood and 25 lbs with dry cell battery next month. Im guessing the
the Maxima weighs around 2766 lbs with the mild weight reduction mods I do on drag racing days. If not then its pretty close. Never knew moms bathroom scales would come in so handy. I have weighed everything from body kit parts to a bag of screws with that thing ! LOL

Well thats about it. Didnt want to go overboard with all the exotics around !

Nice. Maximas are one of the best looking 4 doors iMO. too bad they are FWD. But they come stock with pretty good HP not a bad choice. And yours is pretty damn quick. Congrats on a nice car.
