2 days ago, I saw this at Barnes and Nobles (however its spelled). Glad to see that for the first time since I can remember, they did not place an american car as 1st. Even more glad to see the F430 in 1st position. Too bad DB9 was last =(

nice article
is it me.. or the acceration time on the f430 is alot slower than the earlier press test of magazines i think maybe ferrari was giving "special test cars" for the press test earlier on |

Have to remember that earlier tests were done with a factory press car at Fiorano's main straight, which is slightly downhill. In its first test from those sessions, C&D had listed the F430's 1/4 mile time of 11.7 @ 123 mph. However, MT tested an Enzo some years back at Fiorano, and the highest speed they could accurately measure was something around 100 mph before they had to brake. All times after that were extrapolated (C&D would also note the special Fiorano testing procedure for their Enzo test).
It appears, though, that customer V12 Ferrari's, like the Enzo, have been as quick as the factory cars. The non-F40 V8's are another matter. As far as C&D usually picking American cars, that is simply not true. In the past couple of years, with American cars improving noticeably, they may pick an American car to win 1 out of 4 times. Before that (2003 and earlier), you'd be hard-pressed to find an American car winning in *any* C&D comparo. You'll find one in an all-American comparo, or one involving trucks (and now even that has changed, notice the Honda Ridgeline winning the last truck comparo). C&D is pretty notorious for picking BMW's as their favorites. One should also note that the Gallardo beat out the Ford GT, even though the Gallardo's clutch wore out and all performance figures for the Gallardo were from a previous test. The times for this GT and the DB9 were pretty slow as well. C&D's previous DB9 hit 150 mph over 2 seconds quicker. |
Thanks dude for the scans !

Just awesome article dude! thanx a bunch! :D

Thanks for the scans.
They should use normal 911 turbo, not cabrio. It would be much faster & better. |
Thanks for the scan. Looks like Lamborghini will have to hurry up the Track version of the Gallardo that they have been talking about...Even without the launch control the F430 is incredible. I echo what Guibo said about the US mags and C&D notorious bias toward BMW's.

Car & Driver issues are not arriving in my town :( currently, so itīs great to have the scans.
