Please do not support these dealerships (US)
At least not until the corporation that owns them better supports their sub management employees. Especially their technicians. Lithia Motors wants to be America's Choice for Car and Truck sales and service, but they want to do it at the expense of the people who work for them.
Working for a high end marque, having gone through the training i went through, i should be making a decent living, with benefits that wouldn't leave me wondering what the hell i'm going to do if something happens. But no. Since arriving at this dealership, two techs have quit. Both switched careers. One of them is making more money working on forklifts. Most of the techs have 2nd jobs to support themselves, because it just isn't possible to make a living turning wrenches on these cars. Frankly, that is so far below acceptable i'm beside myself in disbelief. I can't see any reason why a career in which the demand far outweighs the supply. I'm living at home and i still can't get any money saved because there's barely enough coming in to cover my bills, which are less than 1,000/mo. Right now, I am looking at 2 possibilities because of this. Neither of which i am happy about. Either stick it out and hope it gets better, and nothing happens to where i have to try and use the cut rate insurance that a corporation which owns 106 dealers enveloping 30 marques, is "giving" us. Insurance that will barely cover anything serious, and supplemental dental which is only accepted by 4 dentists in this area, none of which are accepting new patients, and get a second job so that i can save something and move out before my girlfriend comes up; Or switch marques and risk making even less as an entry level tech. At this point the only other marque i feel like working for is Ferrari. This is inexcusable from any corporation and it's customer's need to know what they are condoning by continuing to patronize these dealerships. So please, stop supporting Lithia Motors until they start taking better care of the employees that make their business possible. The following dealers are owned by Lithia. Damn, this sucks. Aren't there other BMW dealerships not owned by Lithia Motors? |
I thought this is unlikely happening in US but very common here that you cant make enough to have a living.
Can you move to other bmw dealership? |
will do my good man, let my know if they ever open any in florida 0X
|
Sad to hear about this Chris. Is there an authorized BMW facility there that you could join?
|
this sucks :( i hope you can find a solution to your problem. greedy bastards :x

Man.. Go to another dealership.
Employment is a market just like a product. They get what they pay for... When all their good people leave and they are left with trained monkeys who screw everything up.. No one will buy anything from them. |
Life is too short to have a shitty job. I would say, like everyone else, go to a different place. Maybe even try something other than BMW. One of the guys I used to work with restoring Ferraris moved up to the Seattle area and got a job at Dennison International Motorsports, maybe you could work in a shop like that.

Interesting list!
Im going to a school that specializes in the Automotive sector as from September so will certainly keep this list since I might work in America at some point in or after my course. Thanks! |
Is this because dealers are changing their rates for service? I thought I red something about instead of an hourly fee, they would go to flat fee's. I can easily see how that'll screw you.
Either way, it sucks, sorry to hear about it. Like everyone else, I recommend finding a new dealer. Ever thought of just going to an import garage instead of a dealer? I know dealers generally pay better, but the guys I know at the shop affiliated with my workplace do quite well. |
Most dealerships already do flat rate for service but they break it down to hours on the Repair Order so like if the job pays 8 hours instead of putting 1080 they put 8 hours at 135 an hour...
yeah that really sucks man I am looking for another job aswell. |
let's make things a little worse. Labor rate at this place is 106/hr. I'm only getting 20 of that :?
After a fiasco today involving a wrong part costing me 7+ hours (fortunately the shop foreman talked the manager into making parts pay for my lost time) i find out that the parts monkeys get paid better than i do :? I'm going to cali tomorrow through the 14th to be with my g/f, and when i get back i'm going to find out a little more about the payscale around here. Also will be looking for a second job. I'm going to try and get one as the mechanic at the indoor kart track nearby. All that will just go into savings. But politics would be a lot less. Kart broken? Fix it. End of story. Wondering if the Port of Seattle is hiring...Gov't jobs typically have good benefits. Thanks for the support guys. |
when was the last time u watched Office Space??...I think its about time u brushed up on its ideologies :P
