Thanks for the vid! Could it be that the RS4 isn't as fast as Audi claims it to be?

TT 05-03-2004 01:30 PM

Well the cars are quite close anyway.. and I don't think Audi ever advertised for fast cars for a dumb short race on the highway LOL. If they invented the "quattro" system it was for sure not for that ;)

Schwalbe 05-03-2004 02:35 PM

I remain skeptical. :? On paper the RS4 is definitively quicker than C32 AMG.

Me happy

Yes and in the Vid the audi is just toying with the AMG, I fail to see your point.

He lets the AMG catch up, and then steps on it, does this twice.. Not sure why you doubt the RS4 is quicker.

quattrodude 05-03-2004 03:10 PM

I know the guy who made this movie, the C32 was tuned with an exhaust which brings it around 370-375 bhp...

You must be kidding. Can't you hear the RS4 driver giving full throttle?? Also if you pay attention you can see the C32:s brakelights in the end. I think the audi driver loses the race when he shifts gears and lose momentum..

jon_s 05-03-2004 04:20 PM

At the end of the day, we are talking about a street race, harldy the most scientific way of seeing which car is quicker.

I dont doubt, the RS4 is really quicker than the C32 AMG. This video suggest the opposite and this is totally false. I talk about the both RS4 and C32 AMG totally stock, not modified. In addition, the better reference to judge the real speed is unquestionably the quarter miles on dragstrip and lap time on circuit.

For all C32 AMG lovers, preserve well this video, because this is the only times of your life that you will see a C32 AMG beat a RS4 poorly driven.

SPEEDKILLAR 05-03-2004 04:39 PM

^^^^al RS4 are poorly driven, by poorly drivers.

mazmazmaz1 05-03-2004 04:40 PM

I guess the C32 is faster. Rmember the video posted couple of weeksa ago where a C32 beats a 360 Modena?? Then if it beats a Ferrari then it sure will beat an
Audi RS4.

^^^^They could be wrong, the area and conditions could have been more favourable for the audi.

This is not a good argument, because a RS4 can also beat a 360 Spyder. You remember this video?

jorge 05-03-2004 04:50 PM

The RS4 is faster off the line, but from a rolling start is difficult to say, altough i guess the RS4 is quicker overall.

SPEEDKILLAR 05-03-2004 04:53 PM

And btw, the C32 is outdated by the C55 .

This is true the upcoming C55 AMG will feature a normally aspirated V8 that will produce around 367hp. I have the misfortune of announced you that our small competition will not be finished with the upcoming RS4 4.2 V8 40v Naturally Aspirated 420 bhp. :D

SPEEDKILLAR 05-03-2004 05:03 PM

^^^^Now its on

evopanda 05-03-2004 05:10 PM

Personally i'm a big fan of both cars. But if I had to choose which one to buy, i'd be going for the RS4 - Audi's styling looks much more sexy and appealing than the C-class - inside and out. :)

KramRS2 05-03-2004 07:25 PM

I disagree with who said that street racing are not the best comparison test. I think that this is the only test (safety conditions allowing). Tracks are very different from the real world, and even those “Jurassic Monstrous engines American Seventies” (with all my respects but their not for my personal taste) do great quarter mile times.

I think that a lot of things could have happen. The RS4 was with their Y-pipe disconnected (a very usual problem), turbo problems, bad fuel, dement driver, etc.
But, definitely the RS4 loose.

The only thing that I can reinforce for the MB guys is: Save this video in a carefully manner, cause it is unique.

Try this: http://www.rs4-imola.com.br/downloads.htm

Ghostbat 05-04-2004 09:45 AM

I think that we all should agree on that we disagree concerning "C32 vs RS4".

StanAE86 05-04-2004 11:13 AM

It's hard to tell from the video, but to me, it sounds like pre-redline shifts. BUt the turbos do muffle the sound a lot. I haven't looked at the numbers, but I'm guessing they're pretty close in performance numbers...they seemed to pull pretty even until the Audi driver shifted...and took quite a long time doing it...

I would take either car.
