How much longer do u think schumi can stay on top

My guess is this year and next year at the most.I am not saying this because he would not have the skill any more but how much luck can one guy have.

So you think Schumi's driving is luck? sorry i don't agree and i think your question kinda contradicts itself

SFDMALEX 04-27-2004 09:33 PM

As long as Ferrari are doing their homework Schumi will stay on top. The man is a born racer...you cant take that away from him.

SPAD 04-27-2004 09:37 PM

NONONONO that is not wat i am saying at all! I am saying that in racing u need luck as well as skill.

Anonymous 04-27-2004 09:41 PM

hmm but skill always shows through i think the luck evens itself out over a season

SPAD 04-27-2004 09:57 PM

I find it funny that he is the oldest driver in F1 but is also the most fit

PATo355 04-27-2004 11:43 PM

Till his retirement he will rule the competition , now he is the older and its the best without hesitation .

Ok , 1 pole position could be luck , 1 championship is a lot of luck .... 6 championships ... huh .... luck ?

stracing 04-28-2004 12:05 AM

i reckon he's got a few more years. hes a true racer. like the imola race he showed montoya he was not giving way to anyone. thats what we want to see. but obviously the whinging little bitch montoya wanted everything his way

geekdiggy 04-28-2004 12:12 AM

schumi can stay on top as long as he wants. the guy is more motivated than the entire field combined, and he's got the team and resources behind him to win another hundred championships if he could live that long. he's got true skill, there's no doubt about that. and when it comes to skill i still don't think anybody in the field has what it takes to beat him. i am not, however, saying that he is invincible, though it may seem that he is. but as we've seen in imola qualifying, all it takes for an opponent to bump schumi down to #2 is a stellar performance in hopes that schumi fucks up.

SPAD 04-28-2004 03:19 PM

when i say u need luck i mean when it comes to car trouble and getting bumped off the track by other drivers. im not saying that he is not a good driver.shit he is my favorite driver.

SPAD 04-28-2004 03:26 PM

I think that he is the best driver to ever live he is not always the most fare but he gets the job dun.i think he could dominate in any kindf of racing.i want to see him race in the the lemans 24.with the factory ferrari team.thAT would be very cool.

car trouble isn't luck ferrari cars are so well engineered and designed they don't blow up often! They have a proven record of reliability. As for getting hit off the track i agree with you to a certain degree but also skilled drivers are better at avoiding 'racing incidents' schumi usually knows how far he can push it e.g. vs montoya in imola

5vz-fe 04-28-2004 06:40 PM

His car control skills is absolutely amazing. Look that at qualifying stint he got himself at Imola. I bet other drivers would have lost it already, yet he qualified in 2nd.

Like everyone have said, Schumi can stay on top for a long long time (provided Ferrari has the resources to keep their game on hand)

SPAD 04-28-2004 10:29 PM

i think ferrari will have the resources as long as schumie is on the team.

i hope this guy never quits.

ALSO.forget anything i said about LUCK!

SPEEDCORE 04-29-2004 04:37 AM

As long as Ferrari keep doing what they are doing, he will be at top or near top(which is great for us tifosi :D )

SPAD 04-29-2004 06:32 PM

I SAID FORGET ANY THING I SAID BEFORE ABOUT LUCK! LUCK WAS NOT MY POINT!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO

szumszer 04-29-2004 09:25 PM

things can change quickly, when new rules become official, otherwise, as long as ferrari has the best car and racing strategy and keeps on spending a lot more than their competition, schumi will continue to dominate, besides there is no one in his league at the moment, he does not have true competition, there is no other great one to challenge him, mika provided some thrills, but really schumi has not had direct competition since senna died, and although button seems to be emerging as the new hot young star, in reality drivers championship points tell the whole story, to be honest I would not be surprized if schumi was to take all races this year ... it probably will not happen, but it seems plausible

tanelvali 04-30-2004 06:42 AM

As long as Ferrari+ Schumi stay together he will be on top. Securely for a t least 3-5 more seasons. But I predict him to stop racing after 2005 or 2006 season.

about reliabilty. lets go back 12 years or so and tell me that Ferrari was reliable hell even when MS first got on board Ferrari wasnt reliable.
1996 MS joins Ferrari
http://www.formula1.com/archive/season/1996.html

Sorry i should have said now they are reliable!! im know they wern't always but over the last few years you have to admit they are probably the most reliable
1997
http://www.formula1.com/archive/season/1997.html
1998
http://www.formula1.com/archive/season/1998.html
in the 99 season is when he had the broken leg i believe and then from 2000 on well we all know now dont we. MS, along with Ross and Jean changed Ferrari, when those 3 guys leave Ferrari they will go through another drought.
Ferrari before MS
95 1 pole
94 1 pole
93 0 poles
92 0 poles
91 0 poles
and its not like they had bad drivers, Prost, Alesi, Berger just to name a few. i dont have the time right now to go through every season and race but im sure you will find plenty of times when neither car finished the race for Ferrari.

1979 was the last year for Ferrari to win the drivers title with Joey Scheckter prior to MS's dominance. (21 year drought)
1983 last time Ferrari wins constructors title, prior to 99. (16 year drought)

oh and i am a huge Ferrari fan. but i wont deny the truth as much as it might suck to know that Ferrari sucked back then. and like i said before when Jean, Ross and Michael leave is when Ferrari will go for a while without a champioship. though i hope to be proven wrong.

Sorry i should hae said are now reliable and have been so for the last few years
