i just started wondering which one is the most expensive production car atm?

ahmedgiyab 04-16-2004 04:58 PM

ferrari550 04-16-2004 05:01 PM

I am sure the Enzo has to be on the top of the list somehwere??!!
i remember reading a list a while ago that said the enzo was the most expensive car in america.

SPEEDKILLAR 04-16-2004 05:03 PM

I think the CLK GTR, mind you only 25 where produced.

PATo355 04-16-2004 05:04 PM

The koenigsegg , that the only one you can buy , Enzo , CLK-GTR are limited production cars

ahmedgiyab 04-16-2004 05:14 PM

there are more Enzos than Koenigseggs.... 8)

Sure but you cant get an enzo retail , but you can buy a koenigsegg if you want , the enzo is impossible ( auctions do not count ) just new retail cars

atm = at the moment

I can't be the Enzo, Veyron or CLK GTR, because they are not for sale atm (apart from the Veyron, wuich isn't even finishe yet  ).

I think that the Dauer Porsche 962 Replica is the most expensive at about £600k + . It was featured in evo magazine a while back

Steward previously) for $600,000 and $440,000.... 8) 8) 8)

nthfinity 04-16-2004 05:31 PM

i think that i read late last year that Mercedes were making a second limited production run of the CLK-GTR, for a cool 1.8million USD if i recall... also, i remember they were somehow different then the previous production run...

budagboy2 04-16-2004 06:47 PM

How could you leave out the mclaren? Low milage ones go from 1.5-1.8. Then theres the lm which is 2-3mil.

FerrariFerrari 04-16-2004 06:53 PM

The Shcuppen 962CR is the most expensive production
car that I have ever heard of but I'm not sure if they
still make it. It cost $2,500,000

I seriously doubt that. They have no reason to build
another run of them. The only reason they made the
first run was for homologation purposes and I don't
get the idea that they wanted to make anymore than
they needed as they cost a lot to build and even at
$1.5m they didn't make one penny on them, in fact
I think they lost almost twice as much as they made
on the car.

Probably, and for that reason the CLK-GTR Roadster which,
come to think of it, were selling for around $1.8m. I can't
believe that I forgot about those cars. :D

sorry for being off topic, the most valuable car in the world according to the Guinness World Records is the Bugatti Type 41 Royale Sports Coupe (sold for $15 million USD in Japan on April 12, 1990)

http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/index.asp?id=43465

and i always think that the CLK-GTR is the most expensive production car in the world

And that's just the highest price paid for a car. can you
beleive that there are cars with an estimated value of
over $50 million. Some experts beleive the Mercedes
300SLR could bring up to $100 million.

$100 million for a car??? - that's ridiculous...

I'd rather buy a Mig 21 or Mig 15 fighter jet for $20,000 (Australian Dollars) then pay the $1000 per hour for fuel...

Gee, for $100 million(U.S)- that's 2 F-117 Stealth Fighters!

frua 04-17-2004 03:11 AM

The most expenive classics -sold on auctions only- are as I heard bugatti Royale and Ferrari 250 GTO.
But, when talk about a modern cars-the real budget-crusher:) is a strange Shuppan supercar, built on a racing Porsche basis. Its built by a former race driver named Schuppan-i think it easy to found out more.
This insane machine exists in two exemplars or sth about it and was to sold about TWICE price of Merc GTR( which wasnt cheap also  )

Now , I think Enzo is the king-but there are always a bunch of strange exotics noone knows them that claims horrible prices.

CLK GTR - ONL10 cars were produces instead of 25. And it costs like 1 178 000 £

spicymustard 04-17-2004 05:11 AM

We are talking about "new" car prices not resale or auction values, RIGHT? So i would have to say that the last McLaren F1 would have to be the most expensive. Mclaren is selling the "new" car that was in their show room window for £1,000,000 about $1,700,000 for a "new" car. The CLK GTR's do fetch more, but they did not cost that much new, so i would again say that the McLaren F1 is the greatest and costliest car in the world. And when it comes down to it, I would rather have a Mac 1 than any of the cars thus discussed, but the 300slr is close and so is the 250gto.

nejcdolinsek 04-17-2004 05:20 AM

The Enzo is the most expensive car in production today: $660,000
I wish I had some of that $$$ :(

twboy1999 04-17-2004 10:12 AM

yupp
enzo is the most expensive car u can buy rite now ^^

tanelvali 04-17-2004 10:58 AM

and still I am right. CLK GTR was planned to produce 25 pcs. but eventually only 10 pcs were made. ask tiff needell, if u like.

spitfire6000 04-17-2004 11:10 AM

for 100 million u could buy every car that is being produced today or in the past 30 years...

Hehehe, yeah I know. The one thing you have to remember
is that those are only estamates ,albiet done by expert aprazers,
but none the less still estimates. An auction, which is where
most cars like that are sold, is a very unpredictable place, they
cars could go for far below the estimated price or far above it.
It all depends on what the top bidder is willing to pay for the car.

No, the whole run of 25 was built. They have numbered plaques inside them, all we need to find is a pic of the interior of one with a number greater than 10.

The Japanese economy was at its peak back then. I recalled that a strip of land in front of the Imperical Palace was supposedly worth more than the entire state of California in 1990. crazy stuff.

A couple of weeks ago there was a Mig 29 8) for sale on
EbaY. I'm not sure how the seller aquired it. The same
guy had a couple of other cool planes for sale also. If you
live in the states forget about a Mig, you're not getting one,
Laury Ellison tride to import one and couldn't and if he can't
chances are more than likely noone can.

nthfinity 04-19-2004 06:38 PM

ok, i did some magazine digging, and i found the "new" mercedes CLK GTR that is either in ltd. production right now, or has just gotten over with.

its in Motor Trend Oct. 2003 issue on page 53 titled
Quote:

CLK GTR: back, just for a few
just because they can, five lucky buyers are having new, streetgoing, roaster versions of the CLK GTR Le Mans race cars built by AMG's racing division. a CLK in name (and taillights) only, the mid-engine v-12 pwered GTR cleaned up against porsche and mclaren to win the gt1 championship in 1997. to homologate the car, 25 road legal examples were built in the '90s. this new, limited revival series was presold at an officially undisclosed price---- one that surely reached deep into seven figures. ---K.S.
i would love to have this car so incredibly much!
