AWESOME,i really wished these cars would have been sold here coz they rule for what they are

Tomerville 03-23-2004 08:25 PM

Get some pix up! It sounds hot! Hmm, that seems almost identical to the Generation II Mishibishi Eclipse.

crazyxzer0 03-24-2004 12:16 PM

Those cars are real sleepers. Friend has Mitsu 92' Eclipse GSX. I think they have like 192hp at the crank stock. With some minor "removal" of badges and upgraded turbo it becomes a sleeper! I can barely tell which one is the 4wd versions out there. Great find! get some pics of the bad boy up now!

hemi_fan 03-26-2004 12:25 AM

I was looking at some of these, and I was gunna take a drive this Saturday to look at a few. The 2.0L Turbo engines make 195hp, and I think the 95' and up make 210hp. The 4wd would be awesome for grip, and it has many misubishi parts so the regular Chrysler reliability and build quality problems arent there. My lemons book says the 90-94 versions are Above Average, and teh 95'+ versions are Reccomended, those are the highest ratings in the book. Id love to see some pics of it!

type x 03-26-2004 03:30 AM

yeh 4wd vs fwd isnt a big difference on these cars, the 4wd has a faster engage and better traction, but its heavier than the fwd and tends to by harsh on the tranny. My dream car is a 91 gsx....Magnificent find you have seeing as its basically identical...Please post!

Actually my true dream is get my hands on a skyline or rx8...hmm decision between best turning system ever inventer or neatest rotary ever invented....

Hard decision

The GSX can be a wicked fast ride. Especially tuned. Have you dyno'd your car yet? Any further mods planned?

jon944lee 04-23-2004 07:35 PM

You aren't talking about DSMs are you? Almost 2 tons...not quite, more like 3100lbs for the '92 GSX.

Nice car, that's what I was hoping to get when I was looking for a car, but I couldn't find any in good shape, all had been abused.

SilviaEvo 07-11-2004 12:52 AM

4G63? an EVO engine?

Garretts_turbo 07-11-2004 06:59 PM

yes, an Evo engine. But not an Evo 8 engine. An earlier form of the 4g63 is the engine in the turbocharged DSMs.

Sp00ln 07-11-2004 09:19 PM

^it's the all the same shit. IF anything, call it a DSM engine.. not an EVO engine.

Why can't you people just call it Mitsubishi? Do you really think "Diamond Star Motors" sounds better or classier?

Yea, the TSi model of the Talon and the Eclipse with the turbo had an older detuned Evo motor. It made less power and was a bit weaker than the Evo motor but this could easily be fixed 8).

EDIT-Bah sorry, I was a bit late lol.

Sp00ln 07-11-2004 11:05 PM

If you want to try to get technical, you should have said chrysler. I dont ask why you call yourself badmihai or deny your orient from canada... puss. hahahahha

T-Bird 07-11-2004 11:13 PM

well Sp00ln if you want to get technical it isn't Chrysler first off Chrysler didn't actually own the company they just had 33% share holder in the company making them the major player and the decision makers but they didn't own the company per say And now chrysler is ditching Mitsubishi Motors and letting them do their thing although I'm sure they will still work together on some parts sinceChrysler uses their turbo's in the PT Turbo/GT and SRT-4 and other little parts throughout both companies cars. But his car isn't even a Mitsubishi anyways so his is technically a Chrysler car but Mitsubishi's aren't.

Sp00ln 07-12-2004 12:06 AM

Schwat dude? Look at your last sentence. No need for anything before that.

and FYI: Mistubishi is going under. They lied to their share-holders and their *ceo*(dont quote me on that) is being arrested in Japan. They're doomed.

T-Bird 07-12-2004 12:10 AM

Mitsubishi isn't going under just Mitsubishi Motors you have to make that part clear.

Sp00ln 07-12-2004 01:24 AM

^true

but this is a car forum isn't it? I thought it would be clear.

Garretts_turbo 07-12-2004 01:50 AM

wow guys....its a car. i drive it. it says Eagle on the outside and Mitsubishi on the engine. see?

soon there will be more....i want a big 16G...and a FMIC...and more...
but i'm getting a better transmission first...and that will make me broke.

T-Bird 07-12-2004 02:14 AM

I know what you mean I need a new tranny and Iwant a new Rear End or atleast to rebuild it I while I'm at it I'll probably get a new driveshaft and half shafts. And there goes $5 grand. I plan to keep this car for a long time out of choice of course.

Garretts_turbo 07-12-2004 02:16 AM

Same here. i love this car. i'm really hooked on it now.

www.importperformancetrans.com

thats where i'm getting the tranny from. i've heard nothing but good reviews and that theyre customer care is first-rate. check 'em out.

T-Bird 07-12-2004 02:33 AM

wow they have my car's trans but I have decided on a different one just waiting for a little more cash to come my way since I want to do it all at the same time so i have as little down time as possible.
I'm getting one of these:

Art Carr EXTREME 4R70W Transmission $2,125

A COMPLETE brand new drop-in Transmission for the '94-97 Thunderbirds and Cougars. $300 core charge refunded when your old trans is returned.
This bad boy will handle anything you can throw at it. Built to handle way over 600 HP, it is the perfect trouble free electronically controlled transmission for your stock to highly modified supercharged motor. This transmission retains the factory lockup feature.

Includes the mechanical diode kit, a premium 2 1/4" OD band, billet intermediate stub shaft, 8-pack direct drum, Raybestos blue plate clutches, improved main pressure regulator valve, improved bypass clutch control valve, their valve body shift improver for better fluid flow and firmer shifts, and all the other high performance goodies Art Carr is known and respected for.

Art Carr STREET / STRIP 4R70W Transmission $1.825

A COMPLETE brand new drop-in Transmission for the '94-97 Thunderbirds and Cougars. $300 core charge refunded when your old trans is returned.
Art Carr quality and reliability at an unbelievable price. This NEW 4R70W tranny is for those Thunderbird and Cougar owners who have engines that are still stock or have several bolt-ons.
Why have a local shop attempt to rebuild your transmission and screw it up when you can get a NEW High Performance Art Carr 4R70W for the same price. This transmission retains the factory lockup feature.

Includes the mechanical diode sprag, 2 1/4" OD band, direct drum 8-pack, their valve body shift improver for better fluid flow and firmer shifts, premium clutch packs, and all the other high performance goodies Art Carr is known and respected for.

They make some of the best trannys out there that are affordable.

They are actually a little better priced than the site you gave me for my car but still a helpful site thanks

Sp00ln 07-12-2004 12:01 PM

Try visiting http://www.shepracing.com/ - they prolly make the best trans for our DSMs. Dont be ashamed of the 14b. If you want, I can hook you up with a video of a guy running low 12s (12.1 I think) with the 14b. The fact is many people run strong 12s with this turbo. A friend of mine, with some basic mods, ran a 13.2@102 at 4200ft with his 14b. If you have a decent head on your sholders, you can do alot with that turbo. People have even broke into the 11s.

Garretts_turbo 07-12-2004 12:18 PM

thanks, Sp00ln
i have a lot of plans for this car, but the trans will have to come first since mine is dying.... :x

fabro_s 07-12-2004 03:38 PM

Godd car dude, its very good, and with that turbo, I want to ride it!!

Not really. He can do it with the stock turbo and about $1500 in mods... easy.

Garretts_turbo 07-16-2004 01:26 AM

^^^
yeah, thats right, but you gotta keep in mind one of the DSM rules;
- Everytime you go to mod something some damn maintenance thing breaks down. and thats what i'm dealing with right now. :x

I've been dealing with DSMs for awhile now and alot of thigns are user error. Just maintain the car and it'll be nice back to you. Dont let things go un-noticed and dont do stuff half-ass. If you're nice to the car, it'll be nice to you. Period.
