The new 575M to be announced...

A new version of the 575M will be introduced at the upcoming Geneva motorshow. It will be based on the 575 GTC. Imagine: a 575 in the same style as the 360 Challenge Stradale... I like it!

Now that is good news! :D I only fear for one thing: that it'll have an F1 gearbox...

Completely agree...why don't they put in all the cars the manual gearbox as an option?

Because Ferrari is the king of F1, and their technology is best, and if you can use it on the f2003, then you can use it in a 575M.

Chingachgook 02-26-2004 07:23 PM

It would be fantastic to have a new extreme road going Ferrari, with a V12 in the front, rwd with transaxle...wow my dream

adlinyusman 02-27-2004 12:14 AM

If i'm not mistaken, i think the new 575M stands for the 575 Modificato, not maranello. There's not a lot of changes, except for a new badge in the rear, some new lips and fins, and a new aerodynamic underbody package. it was released a month or so ago. the new badge looks crappy btw. It's 575M in bold and it's in the center of the boot. I saw it on the Ferrari Owners webpage.

sikx5 02-27-2004 01:26 AM

So a road version of the racing car. If they improve the handeling this thing should fly. i think its modificato as well :?

SPEEDKILLAR 02-27-2004 04:34 PM

Wow, imagine the 575M increased in power, better aerodynamic's and most

important of all, a manual.

bohoho, sends shivers down my spine

What do you mean bt manual? You do know that F1 tranny is just an option and the car comes with manual regulary right?

What, I don't know, I think I saw once on top Gear the 360modena,Tiff or JC
saying It was only available as a F1 tranny, somebody remembers.......

firdausasri 02-28-2004 06:47 AM

Speedkillar,

360 and 575 can have manual transmission :)

nejcdolinsek 02-28-2004 07:17 AM

Even if the new 575 only has a F1 transmission, the newest version of the 'box is supposedly much better and smoother than the previous ones. When 5th gear tested the 360CS, they said that it was the best semi-automatic system they had ever tested... Give Ferrari a chance to correct their transmission faults... they'll get it right sooner or later!

adlinyusman 02-28-2004 07:31 AM

most ppl will argue that the best semi automatic paddle shift system belongs to the M3 CSL, not the challenge stradale. I myself have not driven the stradale, but i've driven the M3, and i don't think it's all that great. The downshifts are amazing, it heels and toes for you and the engine blip is awesome, but the upshifts are jerky and very unimpressive.

stradale 02-28-2004 11:22 AM

Just to make things a bit more clear for you guys, this thread is about a sportier version of the 575M Maranello (which is the official name, where the 'M' stands for modificato indeed), not a replacement for the 575M Maranello. We're talking about a street version of the 575 GTC car. That's why I'm afraid it might be only available with an F1 box, because that's also what Ferrari did with the 360 CS. As we all know, you can't choose a manual gearbox on the 360 CS.

firdausasri 02-29-2004 07:36 AM

With or without F1 style transmission, 575M or 575 GTC are still very fine cars but it's the driver needs to get used to the tranny. Of course, the passion of using click-to-click H gate is somehow lost.

Thats Wicked news although if i do own 1 i would probably want a proper manual and not stupid pedal shifts, yeh it may save time changing gears but y, the Manual feels much more i dunno manly i guess
