Help!
I want to buy a car with a manual. What is a good car with a manual for about 10k
|
urm...where do you live and what is the currency?
|
hahahaha! i think thats the most random post i've seen!
your meant to think about things before they hit the keyboard. if your anywhere outside of Australia, which it seems you are, i have no idea.. |
10K? which currency? US? British pounds?
|
He lives in the US, I doubt he will pay his car in Swiss Francs or Yen :P
|
It's an international car forum, so i just had to ask. Hehe. I suddenly feel like a stooge.
10k US would work out to about....6K pounds? |
The e30 M3 is about the best car I can think of. It's the best drivers
machine that BMW has ever made and you know that if it's the best drivers machine that BMW has ever made it just has to be the best drivers machine ever(with the exception of some supercars) and it sounds as if you are looking for a real drivers car. It's probably gonna cost you about $12k and upkeep and repaires will be higher than you may want, but you will get one heck of a road car. |
Get an AWD DSM (eclipse/talon). You wont be disappointed. I'd say its your best bang for the buck. Plus, you should have some extra money left over.
|
10k US is about 6-7k my money, for cars that are here for that money i would go for maybe a corrado VR6,havent a couple k left for some nice mods.thinkin bout it insurance is a killer here so limits a lot of cars, but for that could get maybe a 200SX turbo.
but i agree with sp00ln,your in the US,for that money you could get a DSM,they arent available here, but if i had that money to spend were u live thats the car i would buy |

Dammit, im such a dumb american :( I was excited at the time because a guy I know offered to teach me stick, and I was elated. I'm already prepping for my first manual car. Thanks for the clarification on my country TT. I wasn't thinking.

oh my god, i better save you from these tiny engine sports car wannabee's!!! PAY them little heed you d be amazed how fast you can go on the track with these --------->
for 10,000 us, and you live in Pennsylvania, go with an 1993 mustang cobra. it only had 240hp, and weighed in at a sleek 2300lbs... VERY VERY EASY TO BUILD UP, very cheap to build up. just get the saleen body skirts, and drive that Beast to 200mph under street legal conditions... (the aftermarket will push you somewher around 17000 all said and done id guess) but its an amazing car stock!!!!! other then that, Camaro z28, firebird formula, or Trans am or else, go with a dodge stealth/mitsu 3000gt, a decent one ranges about that area too |

WOuld you want to mod it anyway, or keep it stock?
|
My advise is to save your money, and try to have some more so later on
you can by a phat ride without ever feeling sorry you did  |
get a 1996 M3 (3.2 engine)...best manual car for this money!!!
|
save some more, try to get around 12kusd$ get a 2000 eclipse GT for around 8k usd$ and buy the turbo kit for 2.5k usd$ and then spend money to do the handwork and maybe some rims, keep stickers and wings and body kits off!!!
|
Dude...if he's only got 10 G's a DSM would be a TERRIBLE idea. IMO they're REALLY unreliable.

They break a lot.
|
If he wanted to keep it reliable, I dont think modding it will help do that, unless you go all out and toughen up the engine's components as well (big big bucks involved), which wouldnt be practical considering the budget he's on.
An E30 M3? maybe not a 2.5 Evo II, but one of the earlier ones, a 2.3 or soemthing? BMWs are quite reliable in my experience, considering the E34 5 we've had for 12 years now. Failing that, an E36 M3 3.2? |

and nowadays what doesn't break, Its business, they want the customer to come back for spare parts because Its their biggest income |
^my dsm has only broken down on me ONCE. I believe if you take CARE of your car, it WONT break down. Pound for pound, it's STILL one of the best cars to modify and their internals are GREAT. They will take about 400hp/25psi.
And getting a 3g (2000+) Eclipse is just stupid. They're not fast, and will never be - even with a T3/T4 50 trim they're about the same level as a STOCK Dodge SRT-4. |
