Ok, ive narrowed it down...

I know im taking forever to find a friggin car, but ive narrowed it down. Im calling around now about them. Im looking at:

Lincoln Mark VIIs
Mercury Cougars (5.0/4.6L)
Ford Thunderbirds (5.0/4.6L)
Caddilac STSs
Nissan 240SX

Which do I pick!?!?!?! lol... im probably gunna buy the first of any of these that is in decent condition for a good price, but if I find 2 in this category, which should it be?

STS, Cougar, or Thunderbird. Really depends on wether you want a luxury sedan (STS) or sporty coupe (Cougar/TBird)

stracing 02-14-2004 10:31 PM

240sx of course
whack in a sr20det if it doesn't have it already

oscargarza88 02-15-2004 12:13 AM

240sx all the way, lite, rwd, good styling, handeling, its a good car :)

deth 02-15-2004 12:21 AM

stracing 02-15-2004 12:41 AM

WHAT R U TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!

r u sure u know what the 300zx is???
yes its heavy, but its not anything ugly, and its pretty fast! the tt version is faster than the 350z!

deth 02-15-2004 12:55 AM

^^ and the engine is touted as being stronger and therefore can theoretically produce more hp than a skyline!

firdausasri 02-15-2004 01:55 AM

Hemi,

In my country, those cars' roadtax would cost a bomb yearly

firdausasri 02-15-2004 02:04 AM

The Cougar/ T-bird route could be fun, RWD always is   but keep in mind that the gas mileage wont be too impressive....
i would imagine the insurance on the cougar/t-bird wouldnt be terrible. its definitely not as bad as a 'stang would be. you'll probably pay more for the lincoln and the caddy than the others. my gf drives an older cougar and insurnace isnt terrible at all, but im in the states.

Thanks guys... I may have found a winner, but I wont tell you until I actually get it... Last time i went telling everyone about a car I was going to get, it was sold before I could... but hopefully i'll be alright this time. Pics will come as soon as I get one :D

For a young male the Insurance may be high especially if he doesn't get any discounts (good student, etc...) and the mileage on mine is about 13 mpg keep in mind mine isn't completely stock so that alters it a little.

Ok, Ive been looking at a 95' Cougar for the last 2 days, with the 4.6 V8... The car is almost perfect, except one thing... and it could be major. My dad noticed the antifreeze is a muddy-brown colour and has not been replaced in a long time, if ever. My dad's friend told him that the brownness is from intake manifold wear, and that the engine will probably need replacement soon. This would be a huge shame as the car in every other aspect is amazing. How true is this statement?? Im taking it over to my dads friend's tomorrow to have it checked out so I would appreciate if I got a few answers by then. thanx!

Personally, I would go for the 240. Like Stracing said, you could easily drop in a SR20DET and that thing would fly.

None of the other cars on your list really do anything for me. I hate Ford/Lincoln/Mercury, with a few exceptions (GT40, etc., you know the good ones  ) But of course its your car, so get what you like.

I dont know too much about the Cougar, the muddy brown anti-freeze doesnt sound too good though. Lets us know what happens when you get it checked out. Good luck bro, happy shopping :D

i_hate_the_enzo 02-18-2004 07:23 PM

purely because im a rice boy, im gonna have to say that you should go with the 240, its affordable, easy to upgrade, and looks good in my opinion
