So, I bought a bike...
Well, it happened quite quickly.
After some brainstorming I realized a big Harley won't fit my present needs and would also be too expensive, even if second hand. The BMW RT1100S I was about to test is too big and too much of a long distance weapon.. The other day while going from my office to a client nearby, I passed in front of a small bike dealer and there I saw it... 2001 Ducati Monster 900cc, 8500 km, only one careful owner, custom color (light blue.. delicate, but much better than the obvious red or yellow ones), perfect shape... Today I paid for it and if all goes well, Friday I'll take it home once it will have its plates :) Can't wait! |
Monster - that's my brother's dream bike. Cool!
You still have the 911 and A4 right? |
Yup, I passed the 165'000 km on the 964 today and I didn't touch the A4 since june I think :D
I also found a nice white 3.2 911, but I fear my funds are at their lowest atm :D |
Terrific!! So when are we going riding? :D

And yes, IMO it will be a nice garage with the Porsche and Ducati side by side :) Switzerland when you're used to it, isn't that anti-car/bikes afterall, and Italy is just 15 minutes away :) |

BTW, already looking for a nice exhaust system obviously as the one I've got so far is stock and I am sure I will soon want a better soundtrack :D
if you've got any suggestion... |
Italian bike now ... Italian car next. ;)
|
Hehe, don't worry, of course I've got aims over my first F car too, but first I want to "get laid" with some cheapest machinery :D
|
To borrow a saying ... "Once you go Italian, you don't go back".
I like the way you are working you way up the sports car ladder. I'm sure at the end of it you will have good memories and experiences from various cars to share with your grandchildren.. |
very nice choice TT, a really good looking bike which makes lot of fun - enjoy your first ride at saturday!

Oh, don't worry, I can control my seeds pretty well :P

Well played sir, I had lost a bit of your hard earned respect after al that Harley talk but the 900M is a great bit of kit.
So many lovely things you can do to those beauties too. High level Termignonis All sorts of cans Marcherensi Wheels Although I ave heard the early fuel injected bike can be a bit snatchy this can be fixed on a dyno, which you'd need to do when you chage the exhausts. Please start your own project page. Loving you mileage in the 964 too, and it's the best colour. Well done sir! |
The Duc will have its page I guess, but don't get too excited, I am not the kind of guy that goes finetuning his machine for ages like dingo is doing on his Evo for instance :)
New exhaust, maybe some more here and there like wheels indeed, but I guess it will stop quite quickly and the rest of the time will be spent riding it instead of toring it apart! |
Good thinking, long term, they don't exactly sound shit to start with but Ducs should set of car alarms really.
The wheels aren't cheap so go for pipes first. Well done again. |
Yep, definitely first step will be better sound, but well, Friday seems so fucking far away atm!
|
I bet. Look at the pictures.
Haven't you taken any? If you have, let's see. |
Nope, as I said, useless to take crappy pics in the dealership, so I better try to resist some more. I might be able to take the first quick snaps already Friday evening if I can leave work early enouh to still have some light!
|
Ducati Monster is a great looking bike,
great choice and Congrats! |
Wow Ducati  dude you have a really good taste :P Drive safe!
|
Thanks again everybody.
Today I left the office early just to go to the garage, do a quick walkaround and give the Duc a caress before going home. Dang, it's hard to resist. They confirmed it will be ready with plates and insurance Friday. That's basically less than 48 hours, but they'll be daaaaamn long! |
Nice, did they lower the seat for you? ;)

Weird enough, it fits me perfectly. Not a bike for a 180 cm tall guy IMO ;) And.. SUPRISE!! It was ready 24 hours earlier!!!!!!!!! http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l306/ttsib/01-4.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l306/ttsib/02-3.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l306/ttsib/03-3.jpg More to come in the "What do you drive or ride" section after I'll have something to eat :) |
