Good article, but I'd still much rather have a 911 GT3RS than that pig-ugly, overweight tub of lard.

I wouldn't want to have to rely on it as a daily driver. Also, for sitting in traffic, driving in bad weather condition here in the Rocky Mountains, and overall cost to own and service the car, I can think of many other cars that I would rather have than this one.

Can you imagine the paranoia that you would have when you park that car anywhere and have to leave it for any period of time unattended?

I agree with you. No matter how fast the Veyron is or how good it handles, it's just too effortless in the whole process.

Like RC said, it's a point-and-shoot car. Steer the nose in the right direction, press the accelerator hard and the supercomputers sort everything out and launch you into the distance. Surely I'd get a kick out of it, but I like something with more character.

Better than a McLaren F1? No way. The F1 has everything the Veyron lacks: High revving N/A engine with ITB's and a sound to die for, a manual gearbox, RWD, lightweight build and as little driver aid's as possible to give you the ultimate driving experience. This isn't a car everyone can drive fast the first time they get into it, like the Veyron. It's a real man's car that'll bite your head of when you're not driving it with total respect. In other words, the F1 is car that requires a lot of effort to drive fast, but when you succeed it's so much more rewarding.

And the McLaren F1 is far from the only car that's better than the Veyron. Even a relatively "simple" car like the mentioned GT3 RS is so much more involving to drive than the Veyron and therefore, IMO a better car.

I hate the Veyron since the beginning.

the Veyron definitely is THE best car ever. It's just...amazing.

It's very personal and subjective but for me it's one of the car we will remember in the future like the McLaren F1 wich also have its dislikers :wink:

McLaren F1 still king. Much more character than that lethery comfortable junk. Never forget what McLaren acomplished with less than HALF the hp veyron has.

Over twice the HP 10 more years and turbo (vs NA engine) is what it took to beat the McLaren? Yeah i call that accomplishment LOL

Make a NA car with around same HP but with new technology go considerably faster than what the McLaren did 10 years ago and maybe then it will show how much we've improved.

If it is sooo good at the track and sooo fast and "THE best"... I want to see them make a Racing version like they with the McLaren F1 to prove the Veyron's chassi is up for the job.

I suppose that those who doesn't like the Veyron due to all the electronics don't like cars like the Porsche 959, the Skyline GT-R or the Lancer EVO either.

It's an engineering marvel for sure, but to me the greatest car ever would have to be something you could drive without so much worry. First, it's terribly expensive; even if i were rich I wouldn't want to risk hurting it just because of the sum of money. Secondly, like all super cars, it's pretty limited in real world scenarios. Near perfect pavement is a must.

That's why i like rally cars, muscle cars, and cheap (performance) cars. They're more practical and much more versatile. Still, I wouldn't mind owning a veyron . . .

Individual Throttle Bodies, of course the F1 has 12 of those beauties instead of 4.

I would assume it has throttle bodies as well. :roll:

I don't want to go too off-topic here, but in general the main advantages are a better throttle response and the possibility to deliver more air to each cylinder if properly tuned, which will ofcourse increase the power. Another big advantage (at least for me) is the lovely throaty induction growl that ITBs help to produce.

The Ferrari Enzo has ITBs, so does the CGT, Caparo T1, every BMW M-engine, every sportbike, a lot of N/A racing cars and a few other cars.

I don't know if it's the best car ever built, but it's definately up there.
I don't care that it's loaded up with electronics and various nanny devices. Ask someone why they want a Ferrari and 9 times out of 10, they'll say that the technology was a reason.
What I find most appealing is that it's a big, rolling middle finger to all those that said it couldn't be done or that it wouldn't be done. It's not often that a company like VAG, is willing to risk so much on something like this just to prove that it could be done.



All I'm sure of is that if I could afford it, I'd have one. Black with blue please.

As a technical piece of engineering it is easily the best but as passionate exciting supercar no not really.....

I'm not really talking about driving it. Non of us here have driven one as far as I am aware but we all know the amazing engineering behind it, but recently I saw two and an F40 and I have to say that I appreciated the Bugattis but lusted after the F40 (a journo at Autocar also said something similer)

you guys that don't like Veyron should search for the article where Gordon Murray is describing his first Veyron test drive. He also hated(didn't liked ) Veyron, but after test drive he was very suprised and he said that it's great car and also he said that it's much better on the track then on the street which is also something most of us(who didn't drive Veyron) thought is opposite becouse of big weight.
