English - My mother is english, I was raised more or less english and I have an english passport
Scottish - My grandma's parents originally came from Scotland
Irish - Just found out theres some Irish in the family too.

MidEngine4Life 02-05-2007 04:31 PM

Im

Sweedish - My closest relatives are the (Peterson)s. My grandma is 100% Sweedish
Norwegian - From my fathers side
German - My great grandmother was German (Hess) and married and Englishman (Lockwood)
English - See above
Irish - I have no info on this heritage but Im told there is a bit in me
Polish - Where my name (Gornitzka) comes from

Me and my parents were born and raised right here in the San Francisco Bay Area

silentm 02-05-2007 04:40 PM

looks like my roots are pretty boring

100% made in germany :)

novass 02-05-2007 04:44 PM

Well, I was born here in Southern California (Manhattan Beach). My dad was born in Compton in the 1940s and my mom was born in Northern Cali. Not sure about grandparents, I should find out. My family's roots here in America can be traced all the way back to Jamestown, so suffice to say, we have been here a long ass time (Ben Franklin is one of my ancestors). Before that, my family comes mostly from Wales.

My blood breakdown is as follows (at least thats what im told LOL in order from most to least):

Welsh - Most of my family's roots can be traced back to Wales
American Indian (Cherokee) - Grandfather is 100%
Irish - Theres a wee bit of Irishman in me
Scottish - A few Scots along the way
German - There have been some Germans as well

Black Hair and Slanted Eyes. Oh yes, good at math too. ;)

Z3uS 02-05-2007 05:09 PM

Portuguese - My grandfather (father side) is portuguese.
Germany - My great grandfather (mother side) was german.
Brazillian - My grandmother's family (mother side) were brazillian.

And i was born in Brazil.

Father: Mixed Indonesian/Dutch roots, born and raised in Indonesia when it was still a Dutch colony (the Dutch East Indies) and came to the NL when he was around 19 years old.

Mother: Born and raised in Surinam, but with African, Native American, Dutch and Spanish roots. She came to the NL when she turned 19.

Myself: Born and raised in the oldest city of NL, Maastricht. 8)

Skaala 02-05-2007 05:37 PM

nthfinity 02-05-2007 06:18 PM

Scottish -mom's dad's side -traced back to jamestown, relative of U.S. Grant, and inadvertant inventor of the "book of morman" (not joe smith, or brigham young)
English - mom's mom's side, traced to 13th century aristocracy... and only came to the americas because of a tragic accident.
Irish - dad's dad's side, which is both Irish, and Irish from Germany... yeah, migrating patterns in the 11th century :P
German - Great grandma was 100% german, great grandpa was 50% and 50% irish

gucom 02-05-2007 06:25 PM

uhm...
Dutch - my father's family is dutch, with some parts of french ancestors hundreds of years back
Jewish - my mom's family is partially (german) jewish, and partly just plain dutch, with some spanish traces a LONG way back

People sometimes/often think i'm turkish or morrocan  but that's my jewish roots showing... black (curly) hair, brown eyes, ever so slightly olive skin, big nose :P

ZfrkS62 02-05-2007 07:03 PM

graywolf624 02-05-2007 07:55 PM

What is known..
One side of the family came over from Germany in 18xx. The other side came over from England in 15xx.
That being said I've got other things which are unidentified as of yet.

Mattk 02-05-2007 08:15 PM

My grandparents were all born in China. My paternal grandfather's home town is Kai Ping (Guangdong Province), and I'm technically one of them because my name is on the official family tree. All of them moved to Hong Kong later on (1930s, I guess), some to work, some to flee the Japs. As a result, my parents were born in Hong Kong. They got married after some single living, moved to Australia, and I was born here and grew up here.

black_magician 02-05-2007 08:21 PM

Italy, my parents moved to the states from Sicily before I was born.

SFDMALEX 02-05-2007 09:55 PM

Dad's side is Scottish and German; Mom's side is irish, dutch, english. although the family name traces back to Scotland on southwest or northeast (can't remember). but grow up US Navy, and the family history in general has always been near the water it seems :bah: :)

79TA 02-06-2007 03:49 AM

2/4 Norwegian (that means both grandfathers were full norwegian)
1/4 swiss german (as in the kind of swiss that speak german, not french)
1/4 all mixed up English/Dutch origin. This one is the richest in American history though as I have ancestors that have been in the States since the 1600's.

saadie 02-06-2007 03:52 AM

TopGearNL 02-06-2007 09:04 AM

Erez 02-06-2007 10:37 AM

Mom was born in Israel, Dad and both grandparents were born in Morocco, and as far as i know is that my family moved to Morocco from Spain in the deportation (1492).
tho in some point my moms parents and their family lived in France.. (some still do)
I was born and raise here..

dutchmasterflex 02-06-2007 11:40 AM

Well.. My parents and grandparents were born and grew up in the Philippines.

My great grandfather came from China somewhere.

and I'm sure I've got some Spanish in me since the Spaniards were all up in the PI in early on..

It's really hard to track down our family history because of the Philippine's history. Would be nice to take the time and actually find my true roots though.

edit: oh yea, I was born Florida then moved up to NY when I was 5

Z3uS 02-06-2007 12:00 PM

And what do your parents say? Because there are many russian speaking ukrainian families who still very much consider themselves ukrainian.

Just odd that a guy born to ukrainian parents in lithuania calls himself russian. :|

Nothing wrong with that....just odd.
