Double Trouble For Stricken SLR

Mercedes may have lost one SLR on the supercar's South African press launch after a German journalist's test model was hit by a VW Golf, but an Italian hack has gone one better. He piled his £250,000 machine into the back of a stationary car - sadly, it was another SLR.


Some journos are unbelievable... I guess his review will not mention this part of the story when it's being published. Damn shame, because only then you know how much weight his opinion on the car has.

That sux...I wonder if they just lose their job at the magazine (they better lose their job for something like that), or if they have to pay for anything. I guess the mag's insurance just covers everything, or Mercedes just has to pay for it themselves. Stupid journos... :x

the SLR is a sweet ass car perfect example of form follows function, the coolest part is that the air intake is the large tristar symbol on the front, its part of the airbox now you can't say that isn't cool. And the fact that everything depends on something else for support, the suspension connected to the frame, engine, transmission. now that makes it a supercar and a sweet ass car.

LOL. It reminds me of when the Vipers were new cars and the Journos were totalling them left, right and centre.

Vipers are different though, cause I'm told that those things are kind of unpredictable.

Those journalist just can't drive cars they graduated from universaty or whatever and then they go and drive supercars and they think they can handle it.

The only good journalist are former racedrivers and TopGear/5thGear crew.

i'm not saying its an excuse, but we dont know the circumstances of the accident..so until we do, cut him some slack? :mrgreen:

Innocent until proven guilty, you mean? Well, we can have our suspicions, right? He'd better come up with a terrific excuse why rearending a stationary car in this case was excusable. I find it difficult to make up a circumstance that would excuse him.

how do u explain to your boss that in one testdrive u totaled not one but 2 brand new slrs...then how do u explain to your family that u were fired at work because of an acident =) lol
