This is 1 of 2 street legal 993 GT1's in existance (not an ex-race car but a purpose build street car).

Note the Texas smog inspection sticker - this car is ready for street duty :)

Yep - it's been made smog legal since then and is ready for "daily driving" duties ;)

The daily driving better not be on Richmond or other downtown areas or the poor car will break up into bits on our crappy roads. :)

Do you have some data on car - I don't know much about the GT1 roadcar? It is based on the Le Mans winner correct?

Yes Sir, back when endurance racing was cool they had to produce sweet rides like this for the street just so they could lap such tracks as Le Mans in a race. Too bad we don't have top flight cars like this anymore being produced for the road since it would be rather hard to make a LMP1 car road legal/worthy ;)

The best GT1 in my opinion is the GT1 Strassenversion of 1998 which only 1 was built. The same year Porsche took 1st and 2nd overall at Le Mans before pulling the plug on all factory racing.

Yeah - not bad for someone who supposedly doesn know anything except trailer parks and Vettes ;)

I know and appreciate my supercars a lot more than the gangs of roaming thugs give me credit for :P

And the car is very well made for 1 of 2. It seems like a full series car the way it is finished. Better than mass produced kit cars.

WHo knows, that car might end up next to this one.. the first and last steert GT1's as stable mates :)

nah they're awesome, the porsche factory team always had great decals on the GT1's imo, and this streetcar brings the same feeling :) "the happy 90's" feeling which just belongs to these cars, especially the friendly-looking 993 model :)

See - I don't think the Z06 is God at all.. -- the Gt1 is God, the Z06 is just one of the High Priests :P

And you just need some money, time, patience and the technical knowhow to get it smogged.

Stan is right, Champion Motorsport livery/decals same look as on Champions Audi R8's. Porsche Motorsport is Blue/Red livery on white bodies.

I assure you this is the white 993 GT1 road car.. ;)

And as far as me driving that car, that's probably going to be a stretch of good luck to pull that off, but passanger rides are a sure thing ;)

Oh no doubt it's the '96 GT1 Strassenversion but I was just commenting on the fact it has racing livery added to it. For what reason...who knows, was it factory added or was it customer? Maybe you can find out for us RC? Original owner or dealership that sold the car?

It is in it's original white delivery livery - just with Champion Porsche graphics - I think the decals were put on for Rennsport Reunion one year.

Ultra rare 993 GT1? There were 2 of them built, what you potentially saw was the one and ONLY 1998 GT1 streetversion which would make it just a bit more rare. :wink:

i think he meant the 97 GT1 with 996 features... i believe some 25 were built of that? mass produced almost :P

You confused me a little, since all cars looked just like the Le Mans entrants. Never was a 996 GT1.

I can see how and where the confusion comes in.

Porsche built 2 993 GT1 street cars, and 21 996 GT1 street cars.

These were made during 1997/98 model years. This is the text of one of the most "official" of the Porsche archivists, Marc Bongers,

Now the GT1 produced in 1998 did have some visual cues that are slightly different - but what further research is showing there may have been a few other changes over the 21 cars - some subtle, some not so subtle.

The BB-GT 196, BB-GT 197 and BB-GT 198 license plates used on the presentation models over the 3 production years may be the most telling of which GT1 you are looking at - the on in this thread is the white car originally presented by Porsche bearing BB-GT 196.

I wasn't expecting leather upholstery in this car. I would have expected a really minimalistic interior without any luxury. Interesting.

Yeah - that glove box really opens as well ;) - it houses some fuses and slays - but you could keep your "License and Insurance" in there.

Sitting in it all you can imagine is "Faaaaaaaaaaaaargggg - this thing must go like hell." ;)

That is an RS200 EVO - so its got the "big power upgrades" already in place ;)

That car was Stig Blomquists personal RS... I need to do a Studio Phot Shoto of it.. some really neat details - like leather seats :)

The blue one is an RTurbo, the orange one an RGT-RS, the yellow a CTR2 Sport and the black one is a CTR AWD... out of shot is the RT12 and one of the CGTs... so you really could use a diff. RUF for every weekday, and the CGT for saturday and the GT1 for Sundays :P
